I always thought and said, Stanley Skip Bertman is an uncommon leader and man, AND THAT TYPE HARDLY OR NEVER PASS OUR WAY.
He came here and inspired us all, some are slow in catching up with his GENIUS, but its like a reading class where there are blue bird, red birds and black birds. You go to your group and hope to continue excelling or get better. We are not all the same.
Skip is the biggest impact leader in LSU HISTORY and he was not smitten with EGO nor was he dishonest OR LEFT US IN AN EMBARASSING NCAA DILEMMA OR LURCH! He made us much better....but some are still talking about how he courageously DRUG US INTO THE MODERN ERA OF NCAA ATHLETICS AND LORE. He helped us realize that we had to PAY FOR SUPERIORITY. We did and we howled in happiness. C'est la vie!!

Skip has been giving that BEST speech to kids dating back to his Skip Bertman LSU Baseball Camps. My son attended a number of years dreaming to play for Skip. He may not havre been blessed with D1 talent, he was blessed by Skip's BEST inspiration. The guy is an Icon for LSU.
In 1986 he came and spoke to the teams at the babe ruth state tourney for 11-12 year olds up in St. Francisiville for our opening banquet or whatever it was. I know of at least three kids in that room who ended up playing for him. He was just awesome at that kind of stuff.

What's your point? Yes there is a "World Series" in Sulphur. There are several for Utrip. The one that is their real World Series is the Elite 32 in Orlando. The reason I say that is because you have to win the Elite 32 to go to the tourney in Memphis with the "World Champions" from every other organization.
