I'm curious as to why you would downvote a post pointing out that these guys leaving before their senior years hurts more than coaching mistakes and recruiting misses and anything else?

It's ignorant to expect a Nola or Bregman to return for their senior season when they get drafted that high. When you recruit players like that, you only count on them being here 3 years. After that, they don't owe LSU anything.

So there is zero way you're wrong with your statement?

Like the other poster said, these players owe you or anyone else shite.

Leaving is part of it and must be accounted for. These kids need to take what they can get when they can get it

I think next years team is better suited for it if all pitchers are healthy. As seen, quality pitching depth is more important than hitting at Omaha. I am assuming the infield defense will be improved though

mdomingue-( hope you don't mind if i repost your post!)

I love Skip and think he was the greatest baseball coach in NCAA history. But looking at the stats, 9 years into his tenure at LSU, him and Paul Mainieri have strikingly similar numbers in terms of Outcome.

Skip:
SEC Reg Season Champ 4
SEC Tourney Champ 3
NCAA Tourney appearances 7
CWS appearances 5
championship 1
CPM
SEC Reg Season Champ 4
SEC Tourney Champ 5
NCAA Tourney appearances 8
CWS appearances 4
championship 1

Y'all can't deny though that if these guys would be patient and not get ahead of themselves, we would have teams much more capable of winning the CWS.
They have years and years to go through the minors (which suck in comparison to SEC baseball). They only have 4 to play in college and it honestly shows a lack of chest to leave early when you didn't win an NC.

You should probably just stop being a sports fan if you have this type of spoiled mentality

It's not a spoiled mentality because I do not expect to win championships every year. It is just not any fun at all when we do not. Maybe I am just way more competitive than you. I hate to lose more than anything and I hate when my team loses too.

Seriously? We had maybe one reliable guy in our bullpen (Bugg) and only two quality starters. We feasted on an extremely weak schedule. We did not play the two best teams in the SEC, and we played an extremely weak ooc schedule. I can understand saying LSU had a very good team - they did - but the best ever? No, not even close.

Before post season began, I was talking with a former well known LSU baseball player about their prospects. I thought that with average luck they would make the CWS and go 2-2. He said they probably would not make the CWS. Why? Hitters peaked early and were no longer batting above 300, and the bullpen sucked.
