Is everyone still opposed to a package designed for Randall or Bolden similar to the way we used Jefferson? It could help us spread out the field, keeping the defense on their heels. They know exactly how to stop us now, so mixing up the offense with a dual threat QB could be the solution to that. It'd also help us get guys like Ford and Shepard more involved in the offense.

I really hope we see something like this next week, unless our offense comes out on fire and we don't have to worry about it.

More of an option based type offense with lots of bootleg/roll out plays

The same type of plays we used with Jefferson

I'm honestly surprised we haven't implemented that but I think it has something to do with Les Miles not really wanting to alienate his starter

It probably couldn't hurt. I like bringing in a change of pace like that for a package of plays.

The good news for Mettenberger is that the things that are problems in his game are generally things that can be fixed. His feet need work. They need a lot of work. But you can at least work around that.

Him seeing the field and going through his progressions is something that he's going to have to get better at..might come with more time. Hopefully.

I completely agree

This isn't about changing up the QB, its about changing up the offense. Mix it up and keep the defense worried about other things. The real reason I would like this is to make it easier for Mett when he is in the game

I guess my thread title was misleading. I'm just saying that he can't do it by himself

before that, I'd like to see a gameplan that uses the plays that Mett excells at, and put him in position to make plays.

He is clearly better in shotgun. We have a boatload of RBs we'd like to get in the game. Put 2RBs with him in shotgun, and lets spread the ball and the field horizontally so our playmakers can make plays.

That'll never happen, but its clear that a lot of Iform isn't going to work with the personnel that the Oline injuries have left us with.

What have you seen that makes you think any of that would work this year?

That would fix it too, but you're right, it won't happen. A Bolden/Randall offense is more realistic because its more run oriented, and that's what our coaching staff wants. Teams have figured out how to stop our power running game, so we need to mix it up with a speed running game

Mett doesn't fit this offense. Not his fault. He is doing what miles asked him to do just like jj jl and whoever qb is next. Miles doesn't know what the frick he is doing on offense so it doesn't matter what players u have. His mo is no turnovers for lsu and create turnovers on d and then make special teams plays. We did that very well last year, this year not so much and that is the difference. There is no margin for error.

Nothing, but I've also seen nothing to give me faith in our current offense. We just need to try something different

Hell, let's put two QBs in the backfield like ULM.

Only half-kidding.

The qb can't catch the passes he throws

at this point, he's asking the depleted Oline to do things they clearly aren't ready/prepared to do, just like has happened with so many skill position players in the past.

I don't think people have figured out the power running game, but last year we made hay running behind Faulk, and he's gone. Hurst is out of position, Vadal isn't ready yet.

Last year we had the personnel that allowed us to line up, tell the D what we were about to do, and then do it. We don't have that this year, but we're still trying to do the same things.

I don't think the QB is wholly free of responsibility for the offensive problems LSU is having right now. He's not the MAIN issue, I would say, but he has some pretty apparent flaws

Teams are starting to come off the edge at him a lot and he still can't see it coming. He seems to struggle with his reads right now.

It'll probably get better as he plays more.

Well Mett definitely won't be a first rounder this year like all th idiots on here were saying. Hopefully a hard battled year in the SEC will set us up for great QB play next year.

He really does have trouble seeing this. He's gotten slammed all season long with lbs and corners shooting in at the edges.
