Simmons isn't the only talent on this team

To read some of the comments excusing this team's struggles and likely missing of the NCAA tournament as "Simmons alone can't do it," is just pathetic.

First, it's embarassing to act like LSU has no talent outside of Simmons. Many of you were touting how amazing this past year's recruiting class was, and now LSU has no talent outside of Simmons as soon as the effect of horrid coaching rears its head.

JJ is simply a great recruiter that can't coach his way out of a paperbag. He is the issue and it is obvious. Look at the lack of leadership on this team and you'll see a reflection of JJ.

In the end, this team isn't lacking for talent, but by all means, continue to defend JJ with ludicrous excuses.

Players don't give one frick about the team/season and on top of that we have a mediocre coach.

Talent is what you see on the floor not on paper

I'm not sure Martin, Mickey and Quartermann qualifies him as a "great" recruiter.

Let's not pretend like he got Simmons here. If Simmons' god father isn't on our staff he doesn't even look twice at LSU. No Simmons means no Blakeny. Best case scenario without Simmons' God father would have been Sampson and Victor.

How is next year's class looking? 9th out of 14th in the sec? Yeah. He's a GREAT recruiter.

Correct. Simmons is here because of his godfather and he recruited Blakeny

Who hired Simmon's godfather? Hint - it wasn't John Brady. Next year's recruiting class includes two JC players and one player from Australia who hasn't played in the US. They aren't even considered in the recruiting rankings as only US high school is included. So we might be a lot better than 9th or we might not but that will only be seen when they start to play. And recruiting rankings aren't everything. Lots of highly ranked players fall on their face and lightly ranked ones become great players. Ask the Honeybadger.

He is the most talented on the team, but he doesn't get the most out of his talent on the team.

How does that disprove anything I said about Jones not being a great recruiter?

One of those JC players doesn't have another SEC offer.

You're right. In a sport where one player changes the narrative the fact that Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and North Carolina are continuously in the top 8 for recruiting has no correlation in their sustained success.

This is what's wrong with the majority of you. LSU will never be on the level of those teams year in and year out just like they will never be on LSU's level in football. Our basketball team is much better than those college's football teams were this year. It doesn't matter who the coach is, great basketball players will not consistently come to LSU. Deal with it. It is reality!

Oh, and one of the ways schools do get players to come to their schools is to hire their high school coaches or others who are close to them. That is one way to recruit oh all knowledgable one.
