A buddy was telling me he had the flu on Saturday, is there any truth to that? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I did say Simmons in a post game interview say he had been sick earlier in the week, not sure if it was the flu or a common cold.

He definitely looked like his equilibrium was off when he was at the free throw line shooting air balls. Not joking. he definitely didn't seem all there.

why does it matter? most tards on this website are gonna bash him cause he cant score like steph curry. the expectation of some of you are pathetic.........and you truly dont understand basketball. this has always been evident relative to basketball.

some of you were down right ignorant post game saturday. even if the dude was 100% healthy, bad games happen. not to mention he pulled down a paltry 18 boards.

smh at you dipshits.

btw, none of this is directed to you OP

My son saw him at Tiger land after the game and he said he was coughing and looked pale.

no, that's not what we want. We merely would like to see him be a threat to score outside of 10 feet. For a guy like Shaq, that's fine, but Simmons is best is open space, so a jump shot would make him unguardable.

I love the guy, he's got extreme talent, especially in the open floor with the ball in his hands. But let's face it, he's hardly a threat to score outside the lane.

well he's not a threat from 10 feet and he knows it. His basketball IQ is unfathomable. get over it. He knows his limitations. If he takes (8) 10 footers a game, he misses 5 of them. mother frick......

What about it? No one has ever missed a dunk before? He cocked it back to give it a little something extra.

As posted above, why are some ppl so obsessed with his jumpshot? It's not good, so why do people want him shooting it? He practices every single day on it, one day he will be automatic. He's not now, so just focus on his passing, ball handling, drawing fouls, being a 75% free throw shooter, and being an automatic double double guy

Haha, I was about to say.

Simmons has been unbelievable to me. The casual fan doesn't understand his impact on this team. The dude plays with more basketball IQ then anyone in college basketball. Lately he has put up a few turnovers but that is because he is being forced to try and score more points. He guarantees you 12+ boards a game, and a slew of positive point plays.

I think the reason we focus on his lack of a jump shot is primarily due to the extreme hype and that he's the projected no. 1 NBA pick next year. With that type of hype, we kind of expect him to be Superman. Probably not fair, but that's what the hype-machine created. Extreme expectations mean everything he does will be examined and magnified. Just the way it is.

I still am a bit perplexed because I'd think a guy with his ball skills/soft hands would be able to knock down a 15-footer. I'm not expecting him to drain 3-pointers but just be able to hit a mid-range jumper.

What's also odd is that his free throw stroke looks fine and he shoots 74% from the line, which is quite good.

I laugh my arse off at you idiots.

But but but he missed a dunk. he also shot an airball free throw and then followed it up with barely drawing iron.

maybe he was physically depleted with the illness he was said to have.

either way he went for 16 and 18. so you should probably shut up.

I mean every scouting report that was ever written about him since he was 2 months old said his jumper was his weak spot.. So if you bought in the hype and didn't read the report idk what to tell you. Hes basically unguardable now and at age 19 is one of the top players in the ncaa while the others are seniors....

He definitely looked lethargic at times (compared to other games we've seen him play). If he was under the weather then it certainly wouldn't surprise me. Still, to get 16/18 while sick is VERY impressive.

I think against Ole Miss and Ark. he had a few things not go his way early on and it kind of affected his play for a while after that. Against, Ark. he seemed to spend more time complaining to the refs than he has all season. Maybe it was just cumulative, a frustrating week for him. It happens to every great player from time to time. The good news is that LSU as a team picked up the slack.

As long as he's feeling well Tuesday night, I think we'll see a hungry Simmons. His best two SEC games have been on the road and you can bet the A&M fans will be on him starting even before the game.
