NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Quarterback Stephen Rivers has announced he's been granted his release by Vanderbilt and will transfer to another university to finish his final year of eligibility.

Rivers announced his plans to transfer Sunday in a couple of posts on Twitter. Vanderbilt spokesman Larry Leathers confirmed that Rivers had been granted his release.

Wish him good luck.

Sucks that he couldn't crack the rotation there.

Best of luck

I wish him the best, and maybe he will go somewhere and finally play. I like to think that I'd realize that football wasn't my future and be happy with having a master's degree from one of the finest academic institutions in the country.

I wonder how another year under cam combined with senority combined with our QB troubles this year would have played out for him had he stayed.

Just look at how many players, especially qbs, we've had that shouldn't ever have an SEC scholarship.

He's probably going to try to go to San Diego St to be close to his brother.

Were you and the other guy in a bubble this year? He played in game one and several games after. I just don't think he is good at all. I mean even Bolden sucked at Eastern Michigan.

It's nice to wish him well though.
