Honestly all I hear is "blah blah Collins is special because he is an LSU football player and was about to be a millionaire, how dare you not wait on your murder investigation."

K. I suppose you never ever seen a press release that police are seeking person A as a "person of interest." It has never happened in the history of mankind.

Honestly all I hear is "blah blah Collins is suspicious because he is an LSU football player and was about to be a millionaire, how dare you not allow him to go down in flames with the very people who cheered for him at LSU cheering the loudest that he's likely guilty because he's a black football player who may have been the father of Brittney Mills' child and even though I know exactly dick about shite, I will not be persuaded to believe that anything, anything at all, could temper my grandiose judgement of him and his activities, or lack thereof.

I am amazed that so many posters seem to feel LC's NFL contract is more important, then solving this horrible crime.

well yeah to LC it might be... we're not getting drafted and slated to be millionaires soon... he should have been. TD posters' opinions don't matter on this.

we also don't know the chick who got murdered. idk why yall have this faux concern for her. if she has her family looking out for her, justice will be done. you didn't care about her before, why now?

My point on previous page and people responded that I am unintelligent. What I was saying is that if people in the BRPD leaked this info without authorization they could be liable for the damages and if they were in the know because they are city employees then BTR could be liable for damages.

You are still wrong and have no idea what you are talking about.

Hysterical. Collins should be treated like anyone else. That's what's happening. The only "butt hurt" I see are people that are outraged this investigation couldn't wait until after he made his millions.

Unless he knows absolutely nothing about the murder, I don't feel a bit sorry for him.

I'll fully cop to it if I'm wrong, but I am of the opinion that he had no involvement in the murder. in fact, I would speculate on the basis that I've heard that he was in nola on the day of the murder and posted a tweet that same day that he couldn't believe it'd been 10 years since Brees came to his high school to put on a football clinic (accompanied by a picture of Brees and La'el's team). again, I'm speculating, but I believe that his alibi probably includes the fact that he spent the day of the murder with Saints staff, players, officials, whatever.
here's the tweet: LINK

I thought his "people" said he was in Atlanta? I wonder why we can't get a definitive statement on where he was? That tweet has no location tagging on it so no idea where it was tweeted from (for us, there are easy ways for investigators to find out).

Try do this two days before the draft, costing him a multi-million dollar contract.

It is a tragedy as to what has transpired, but think of the 2 victims first and foremost. Let the police do their jobs and find the culprits of this heinous crime. After that there will be plenty of time to figure out who messed up and who didn't. God forbid if Collins had anything to do with this, I would like to think not simply because of how he has handled himself at LSU and prior to going to LSU. But something doesn't seem right here. Coincidences happen in life so that is definitely what this could be, but if you were the police in this matter you have to speak with Collins. The police have to think of the victims first and everyone else second. That sucks for Collins but it is what it is.

If Collins doesn't have anything to do with this "which is my belief" he will be just fine because he is an absolute monster on the O-Line. He will make his millions and rightfully so, it will be just a year delayed that is all. Does that suck for him? Abso-fricking-lutely! But how about the 9yr old child that just lost his mother and that baby that just lost his life, not to mention and innocent woman losing her life. In the grand scheme of life if Collins had nothing to do with this he will be fine and a millionaire next year, obviously that can not be said for the victims of this crime!!

How did the media find out? If it had been you or me would it be put out in the media they wanted to ask us some questions? Or would the police just call us personally? Is it that hard to call Lael or his agent without letting something like this get out in the media? I fully support the solving of this murder but more discretion should have been used, especially if he wasn't even a suspect.

And to the people complaining "who cares about Lael a woman died." Yes that is tragic but two wrongs don't make a right. If he has no involvement is it just ok that it cost him 10 million dollars?

If a murder of someone you know somehow cut your salary for the next 4 years from 100k to 45k I'd think you have the right to be pretty damn upset if you had no involvement, regardless of how tragic the death is. Especially if you put in years of work and deserved that higher salary.

Whoever gave the reporter the scoop should be sued to bankruptcy.

It was shitty of them to bring this crap up right before the draft. He won't get drafted. Especially after his dumbass agent claimed that he would sit out. Not sure he can even enter the draft next year if undrafted this year.

He can't

His agent didn't do him favors but I don't think Collins even gets drafted regardless. Teams are too scared especially with recent conviction of Aaron Hernandez

The police department did nothing wrong here, it was the media that blew this thing up. If this do go to litigation he will lose. Now his agent kinda screwed him over with the way he went about handling this situation. Why didn't he talk to the police Thursday morning, why wait??? There's a lot more to this story that none of us know so just wait and let this thing play out.

No. They have the right to question him. If your neighbor/girlfriend/uncle/whoever died, the police sometime need clues to help them solve the cases.

If he should sue anyone it should be the Advocate and the slant and timing they used to make this a no-win situation for him. BUT, he really has no legal leg to stand on. I wish he did.

I agree...there is a lot more to this story. Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. Usually.

Is it possible to get any more indignation into this thread?
First, there is nothing close to defamation from anything from BRPD.
BUT unless there was something unusually time sensitive about the need to talk to La'el least week ( the victims are, regrettably, quite dead), someone did a HUGE disservice to that young man by pressing the issue right before the draft.
In fact, the situation seems so unfair and destructive, that someone needs to step forward and explain the timing.

Yes, He can and if you do the math he is doing the right thing. By going in the rounds later than three he would get trapped in a horrendously undervalued contract for four years. Even if he gets drafted and does not sign he can re-enter in 2016. Net result is that he can make more money in the long run by waiting until 2016.
