Dear Tiger Fans,

The past few days have marked a time of transition for our football program, but I can assure you this season still holds great promise due to the dedication of our talented student-athletes and the contagious enthusiasm of Coach Ed Orgeron and his staff.

Coach O and the Fighting Tigers will represent our university and our state with tremendous pride and energy, and I encourage you to support their efforts over the next two months of the regular season and beyond. There are no limits to what can be accomplished in the coming weeks!

I know you’ll join me in offering sincere thanks to Les Miles for his substantial contributions to our football program and for the first-class manner in which he always represented LSU and Louisiana. We are very grateful to Coach Miles for the impact he made upon the lives of his players, and we wish him and his family the best in all of their endeavors.
We have five home games remaining, beginning this Saturday at 6:30 p.m. when Missouri visits Tiger Stadium for the first time. LSU and Mizzou have met on the gridiron just once before – at the 1978 Liberty Bowl – and this weekend’s matchup should provide plenty of excitement as the Tigers take on one of the nation’s leading passers, Missouri’s Drew Lock.

The LSU offense, under the guidance of new coordinator Steve Ensminger, will look to provide fireworks of its own with adjustments in its style of play. Saturday is also Homecoming on the LSU campus, and we’re expecting gorgeous weather for all of the festivities leading up to kickoff.

The atmosphere you’ve created in Tiger Stadium has inspired LSU teams for decades and has earned Death Valley enduring recognition as college football’s greatest venue. LSU has a remarkable record of 100 wins and only 15 losses at home since 2000, and that’s due in large part to the passion of the Fighting Tiger faithful.

Let’s make this Louisiana Saturday Night versus Missouri a memorable evening for Coach O and the players, and I look forward to seeing you in Tiger Stadium!

As always, we welcome your comments at athletics@lsu.edu. Unfortunately we cannot answer every e-mail we receive, but please be assured they are all read.

Geaux Tigers!

I'm not expecting a Louisville offense.

I just want an efficient and organized offense that plays to our players strengths for the rest of the season.

Anybody else still doubt the threat of an empty stadium was the proverbial "straw" on the camel? Read between the lines of this letter and hes lobbying hard for Tiger fans to fill the seats. This was the administrations biggest fear. Myself and others had said in previous posts on this site that the best way as fans to provoke change is to stop going to the games. Well, it worked. Worked damn well.

Don't really see that as a shot. I mean the main reason Miles is gone is because of the offensive philosophy and style of play. This is kind of a hype letter and he knows the fans would like to see a more open offense.

It's not a douche letter. It's a "get behind the team" and "there's hope" letter.
After more or less 4 years of a moribund offense there's a chance for change.
Les is the douche who refused to change and basically said "stick it up your butt" to Alleva, the boosters and the Tiger nation about altering his limited offense.

As for "no one" liking Alleva, that is certainly true on many on this forum who don't understand what an AD's job entails.

Alleva believes offensive teams are more entertaining which means more people staying in the stadium, buying concessions, etc, longer. He'd rather lose every game 100-99 than win 3-0 because this is about perception & money; not winning. And that makes this a sad day for Tiger football.

you are wrong. sure, many on here want him fired and criticize everything he says or does. it's an LSU tradition.

you trash the guy for writing a rah-rah letter. you're pathetic.

After reading all the "I'll never attend another game as long as Miles is coach", what more can you ask for?

Miles, after losing two games he should have won, was fired. He was fired real early. Alleva made the change because he knew that stadium was going to be empty as long as Miles was at the helm offering the same boring, stale product.

We now have some excitement. Something new. He's right. The weather is going to be fantastic. We've only played Missouri once. We have changes all around. The players seem to be enthusiastic. If I wasn't in South Carolina, I'd be pretty damn excited about the changes that have been made and the future of LSU football.

Les is the douche

Never heard anybody, ANYBODY, characterize Les Miles as a douche. You may not like his coaching, you may think he was stuck in his ways, you may have been calling for his firing for years, but I don't know anyone who has ever had anything but glowing things to say about his character. To call him a douche is misguided and juvenile.

That's a fair point.
Les is a good guy
However, In the context of his refusal to change, even good guys can be a douche.

The bottom line is that Les would still be the HC (and probably pretty damn successful) if he would have been willing to change his approach on offense. His refusal to do so is the SOLE reason he is no longer the HC.

The theme of JA's letter is "we can't promise a win. But we damn sure aren't going to lose by doing the same ineffective things that have costs us too many games over the last few years."
