Why do we recruit dual-threat QB's when the offense seems to based on running backs. It would seem to me like a pro-style QB would be better suited. Can someone explain this to me.

Our OL is never elite across the board... so I support a smart dual.

If we focused recruiting efforts on top tier OL, then I'd say let's get a bunch of Mettsiahs every year.

Eta: not to say we don't pull in some good talent on the offensive line, but we don't recruit 4 or 5 every year like some other schools. Les likes skill players.

Dual threats got their team to the title game. It's nice to have options. Flynn and Perrilloux got us to ours.

Difficult to say. We are basically running 3 offenses on a surface level:
1. I/ multiple tight end pound and playaction
2. Spread option
3. Gun vertical passing game

Because we run 3 offenses we don't have any/many wrinkles with any of them.
Last year they ran 1 and 3. For this year I think they wanted to move more towards spread option but either refused to dump the old stuff or reverted back when there was a lack of execution with the spread option.

Mid season they de-emphasized spread and vertical passing in favor of pound and playaction. They added outside zone and bootlegs around that time frame and then added some fly sweep wrinkles in the last couple of games. Spread option was not completely thrown out though so I'm thinking they will give it another go in the spring.

The only change we really need would be to add more single back sets with 3 wide vs 2 TEs. We have an offense built for mobile QBs who can throw, we roll the pocket a lot off or play action. We just have so many WRs with big play potential we just need to get them on the field.
