According to the media after SEC Media Day, we will finish 3rd behind Alabama and Auburn.

Can't dispute the prediction that Alabama will likely finish 1st in the West, but why the hype for Auburn? Is the Stidham addition that big of a deal? I know they'll be good on offense because they usually are, but their defense is average. Just curious as to what y'all think.

BC they return 17 starters from a team that beat LSU last year with a QB that appears poised to be one of the best in the conference?

I didn't know they were returning that many.

Well the prediction is making more sense now.

Because they return literally everybody and bring in a stud at QB

Those pre season predictions are right.

Although Mississippi State might have something to say about who the West runner-up is.

Well they did beat us last year, finished higher than us in the sec, and they actually brought in New life at QB with Stidham (Something we refused to do). They didn't lose anyone that was irreplaceable at other positions.

This. Plus, I think they have a better coach. That will not be an easy game.

You were impressed by that win over us last year? We gave them the game. We will beat auburn. They are dangerous when they are overlooked not when they are picked. I believe we play in BR, where we play them much better

I didn't say that, but a win's a win.

We're just like Bama apparently. Always beating ourselves. Except when Bama steamrolls us.

Maybe, maybe not. As has already been stated, they did not lose as much as we did, and you can down vote me all you want, but they have a better coach (and considering who their coach is, that's obviously not setting the bar very high).

Auburn had 6 All-SEC players at the end of the season. They return two, and one is a kicker. The strength of their team last season was a strong defensive line, and both Lawson and Adams are gone. If we define everybody as everyone except for 4 of their 5 best players, then yes. Everyone returns.

I've got no problem with Auburn being the pick to be #2, but they essentially played LSU to a draw last year in a game at home in which they needed replay to take away the game-winning TD. Let's not act like they were leaps and bounds ahead.

They've also still got a leaky offensive line and a receiving corps that scares no one.

Their backfield is legit, though. And I like their back 7 on defense. But it wasn't an elite defense, and that's with a great pass rush.

objectively, you can't really argue. everyone knows who our qb is, based on a season. even though stidham hasn't played a down at auburn, he appears to be the real deal.

we've got a new head coach, not highly respected.

basically they are saying we will lose to both Alabama and auburn.

fortunately for us, we get to play the games to actually decide the winner.

I agree that we should have brought in a stud transfer QB. I'll never understand our stubbornness in this regard. Bringing in a mercenary has been proven effective at other schools, yet we refuse to do it each year???

Well let's see...we hired a head coach with an atrocious overall record, we lost two first round draft picks on defense , we have inexperienced receivers, and we still have question marks at qb. LSU has a lot of proving to do to get any respect from the media or anybody else. It's totally understandable why LSU is picked 3rd in the west.

Who knows how he'll do on the plains, but if we had brought in Stidham in the offseason, we'd be projected #2 (at least).

The perception (and probably the reality) is that we're still a QB away from greatness.
Certainly doesn't mean we won't beat the barn though.
