I think the worst case scenario for LSU is having to play Miss St if they go with Chris Stratton in their second game which would give him 5 full days of rest. I don't see them pitching him in game 1.

My opening round winners

Kentucky (Not real comfortable with this one)
Miss State
Florida
Vanderbilt

I know they changed to 10 teams this year, but hasn't the 8 seed upset the 1 seed like the past 9 years in a row or something like that?

I know LSU has been at both ends of that streak.

Stratton vs Broussard would not be a great matchup.

Yeah, I think you are right. I don't think LSU will win the tournament mainly because they are not as desperate as some of the other teams (Vanderbilt, Miss State, Kentucky). Vanderbilt is the hottest team right now and they may need to win the tournament to get in despite their RPI.

Question: How/why are we SEC champs if there is still an SEC tournament to play?

I agree. Stratton vs. Broussard doesn't look so good

It's like basketball not football.
The true SEC champion is decided by regular season conference winning percentage. We won that. We are SEC champs.

However there is an SEC tournament where the winner will be called SEC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS.

We'll be throwing Guassmen so it doesn't matter who we face

LSU will not go with Gausman or Nola on 4 days rest.

Wouldn't that be five days rest - Friday to. Wednesday? Or do you just count non pitching days?

We can't go 2 and q so we need to do whatever we can to win that first game.

if we lose gm1, we'd still have Gausman for gm2. No way we try to bring him back on 4 days rest, then have him sit 8 days til Saturday of regionals. Thursday is a good middle ground for him to start. Id personally like to see him sit til Friday (if we play then) or Saturday. then he can sit a week til the regional drivers seat game.

LSU's rotation will be McCune, Gausman, Nola, Eades and then Broussard if we play out of the losers bracket.

Mainieri had to be setting up McCune as the 4th starter for postseason play when he let him go a full start vs Nicholls.

Ole Miss is throwing Wahl at UK. UK is throwing a freshman. So Ole Miss is our likely opponent.
