we get a lot of folks in here who love to rationalize our offensive performance

Looks like you're one of them. Try looking at yards/game vs total yards for the season

Like most stats in college football, total offense has to be taken into context. Right, wrong or otherwise, Miles is going to try to grind out the second half to limit the opponent's opportunities. In addition, he doesn't try to roll up stats against cupcakes like Freeze does, or try to run 90 plays a game like others do. A top 40 NCAA ranking in Total Offense is typically a positive indicator for LSU.

SEC Offensive Rankings historical
LSU had one of the most efficient offenses in the country in 2013. don't even try to say we had an average offense that year
People have memory loss nostalgia on the 2013 offense. They had some good games early then went back to a shitty shell by midseason

Lol. Go look at the sec teams ranked ahead of LSU in 2013 and they all have NFL players.

Oh pahleez.

How many teams have had two guys at WR who were INSTANT IMPACT guys in the NFL, a RB who was an instant impact guy AND a QB who was productive in his rookie NFL season.

Plus, we have frickers who barely registered for us that made impacts as rookies.

That offense was VERY abnormally loaded. Beckham and JL aren't just "NFL players"........they're freaking STARS!

You have it listed in terms of total yards. Not total yards per game. We had one less game than every single team in the SEC this year.

Just looking at 2013 again, LSU was only 10 yards behind bama. This is what I'm talking about, shitting on the team over 10 fricking yards? You guys aren't living in reality here.

Bama and Clemson.

I'll point something else out, LSU was 4th in yards per game this year, ahead of bama. So LSU had a better offense than bama did this year. They won because of their defense.

Yes. They really do. It's a form of insanity.

Probably the best way to look at the stats is for balance:

The last 8 National Champs put up 26,014 passing compared to 26,003 rushing.

The only teams that have been successful with slightly more rushing yards were Urban Myer teams.

The two standouts were AU [Cam Newton] in 2010 where they rushed for almost 4000 yards but still passed for over 3000. The other was FSU [Winston] with 4423 passing vs 2844 rushing. So those 2 seasons balance each other out - and note, the imbalance was managed by 2 prolific Heisman winners and future NFL QBs.

Seems to me the moral here is that if you don't have a freak at QB seek balance.

By the way, the last time LSU had the most semblance of balance on offense: 2007 - 3154 passing/3000 rushing

LSU was ranked 35th in Total Offense in 2013 and 39th in Total Offense in 2015.

Can you provide a list of folks from this site who think the offense is just fine like it is? Thanks

Seems like a good portion of the posters on this thread seem to think it's just fine.

What I get tired of is the fans thinking LSU has the worst offense and is the only team to call timeouts and have pre snap penalties.

It's completely made up.

LSU has not recruited the qb position well enough. The offense in a sense isn't really an issue.

These so called offensive juggernauts have nothing to show for it. Absolutely nothing.

Yay!!! Texas Bowl!!!

Yay for the fact that we had a top 40 offense - except for the fact that we played cream puffs the first half of the season and stroked out some impressive numbers!

However, when the going got tough and we couldn't slam it down the throat of teams...

GUESS WHAT...we were blown out!

I'm just glad that the people that matter (miles and cam) think something is wrong with our offense and are trying to get it fixed

Why else would they run the offense they ran in the Texas bowl if that wasn't the direction they wanted to start turning in the direction of?

Why would they be telling QB recruits that we are overhauling our offense?

why would Miles say that he and Cam are watching other offense?

Miles almost got fired, you don't think that made an impression on him.

Lot of signs going on but we shall see. If we just line up in the I next season and try to pound the ball with the same results Miles won't be around for long. IMO Miles and Cam aren't stupid people, they can see the landscape of where football is these days.

This is what I'm talking about. LSU doesn't just run the I. The first 21 plays against Arkansas had Harris in shotgun. LSU went to I in red zone and scored.

I can't take guys like you seriously. You clearly don't watch the games or are so drunk you don't remember them.

I watch all the games multiple times. That's what I've been saying. This season we've been trying to implement more spread elements in our offense. It's a work in progress. Some steps forward and some steps back. But we seem to be moving in the right direction IMO and I am pumped about it and next season. Call me a sunshine pumper or whatever you want but it's what I believe.

I'm aware of this.

I assume you think it contradicts me, but it IS a typically positive indicator.

So, what was the point of your response?

Oh yeah. You're right.

You guys don't think the offense is fine.

You guys just disagree with EVERY measure ever posted by anyone to show it's not fine.

So, since you seem to be saying you do NOT think it's all fine......tell us using whatever measures YOU find reasonable why you think it isn't.
