I know this topic is going to come up 1000 times int the coming months... so hopefully this helps if people SEARCH for it. I have this on the Ticket Exchange as well.

This topic was discussed some time ago on the Ticket Exchange .... I just found the email I got back then from TAF staff.

Here are the numbers --- as of October 2011. Year-end donations and 2012 bonus points, etc. will change the numbers ... you can get a ball park of what it takes to get Season Tickets from the informaiton below.

Please see below the last philanthropic rank used for distribution of football season tickets in the lower bowl:

West Sideline - row 15 & up 96
East Sideline - row 15 & up 377
West Sideline - below row 15 1500
East Sideline - below row 15 4060
North Endzone 809
South Endzone 2747

Available season tickets and season parking permits depend on renewals, how many people are on the waitlist and what their LSU philanthropic ranking is on the waitlist.

For a philanthropic ranking of 350 - 132.9500 points

For a philanthropic ranking of 400 - 116.5605 points

yep -- I think it was you and I discussing this on Ticket Exchange and somebody said I was dead wrong.

I was just not completely recollecting the whole story of the facts.

For me --- trying to get sideline tickets straight out the shoot..... NO WAY.

But I'm very close to the qualifications (of that list) for getting a call in the lower bowl ... then "improve" each year, I figure.

I wish we had more good games for 2012 -- but there will be plenty in the future I'm sure.

Maybe, but I don't remember it.

I'm just getting on the train now - my kids are grown - I had a TAF card way back during the Saban era, but, I've missed 2 whole seasons since due to deployments, and was not in a super position to keep it up. I was pleased they still have the records of my pathetic little 1.05 priority point. SO, I got on the gold team at the end of the year last month, and paid my pledge for this year. I'm probably going to waste the $10 to get on the waiting list this year and just see if I get offered tickets with 7.45 priority points.

$1000 in a single year to a TAF philanthropic project buys 2 additional points, but no bonus points. $5000 buys 17, 10+7 bonus points, $10000 buys 32, 20+12 and $25000 buys 67, 50+17 .

Ironically it is better to buy in at the lowest tier you can and stick with it - the most money per point is at $100 per year, second is $5000, and so on - diminishing returns. At least save the excess until you can buy into the next tier's bonus points.

So, I'm playing at $100 until I can play $5000, etc.

ETA - I messed the original way up, hopefully these revisions make sense.

Sorry -- I must have been confused (again it seems).

But for TAF bonus points there is $100 which gets you 3.

$5000 gets you 7 bonus points --- but 20 total points.

$5000 donation = 10 Philanthropic points + 7 bonus points + 3 gold membership renew points = 20

No added bonus points at the $1000 contribution level.

$1000 donation = 2 Philanthropic points + 3 gold membership renew points = 5 points

Best "bang for the buck" is the 3 points for renewing at $100 -- but so many people are doing that now ... you tread water at best that way.

No, I messed the math way up the first 1 - but I'm not sure the bonus points stack - I think they're just in escalating tiers:

Unless I'm wrong --

$100 buys 3

$1000 buys 5 (no additional bonus points for $1000, but you get the gold 3)

$5000 buys 17 (Base of 10, plus 7 bonus for 5k, not 3 - I think it replaces, not stacks)

$10000 buys 32 (Base of 20 plus 12 bonus)

$25000 buys 67 (Base of 50 plus 17)

If it stacked, $25k would buy 50+17+12+7+3 or 89 I don't think that's correct.

And of course, and additional $1k between tiers would add 2 points to that donation, eg $11k buys 34.

When do they send out a letter to upgrade your tickets?

These are my contribution guesses.

West Sideline - row 15 & up 96 ........($50k+ for at least two years)
East Sideline - row 15 & up 377 .......($25k+ for at least two years)
West Sideline - below row 15 1500 ...($5k+ for at least two years)
East Sideline - below row 15 4060 ....($1k+ for at least two years)
North Endzone 809 .........................($10k+ for at least two years)
South Endzone 2747 .......................($3k+ for at least two years)

And, it appears the Tradition Fund counts as contributions at the 1pt/$1000 rate. So if you're already holding tickets, you ticket price doesn't get you more points, but all of your tradition fund contributions do.

(Another reason to balk at paying somebody else's tradition fund if they're selling you their tickets... they're getting the points and tax deduction).

I think the way to get the better tickets is to simply "buy in" wherever you can ... then look to upgrade each year.

Upgrades are addressed 1st from the TAF email --- then after all upgrades are addressed .... new season ticket holders may be added... based on philanthropic priority rank.

But to simply "jump in" and get a ranking of 400 or better is gonna take 120 points or more.

$25K would get 50 points + 17 bonus + 3 renewal -- assuming you are already a TAF member. 70 points.

2 years of that would get you to the East sideline row 15 and up, I figure.

So I'd say you are pretty close on that one.

I have 12 points and I'm in the 4000's on philanthropic ranking for 2011.

For the SEZ - if that number holds - a one time $5k donation (20 points) may get you in there, I figure. But I don't really like the SEZ - so I'm hoping to make that East sideline and improve each year, if possible.

That was partly my point - and I guess I shouldn't give away secrets, but it doesn't make sense to give $1000 per year - you should buy in at $100 per year and bank your $1000 per year until you can give $5k at 1 time - more bonus points that way.

Which I was - The 3 stacks with the tier bonuses, but those bonuses do not stack with each other.

$100 buys 3 (I was correct about that one and the $1000, so I got that going for me)

$1000 buys 5 (ditto)

$5000 buys 20, as someone in this thread suggested.

$10000 buys 35

$25000 buys 70

Anything between the tiers gives you and additional 2 points per $1000, pro-rated down to the dollar, for philanthropic giving. They still list on TAF's website the 1 point per $1000 for non-philanthropic donations, although with the change last year, I'm not sure if this applies much anymore.

You were correct on this one. It has been an education getting back on the TAF money train, but I'm getting there.

That'll take a day. Does your last name end in a vowel?

No it does not. And I was on the corps J-staff the last semester, as a C-MAJ - I don't remember the TB picture and I may have not been in it at all.

Aight - then it ain't you. Russo was holding the guidon. Daggum pic doesn't have names listed - you can squint and read a few of the name tapes.

I'll scan the photo later in the week. You're in the 90 Gumbo as well, I assume?

I believe so. I was in the Raiders, but I don't think we had a separate picture. I was the least Raideriest member of the Raiders during my time there, if that helps you.
