This is from SBnation's article on the 2014 Auburn game;

"2. LSU's offense continues to sputter along. Brandon Harris, named the starter after the Mississippi State game, looked noticeably shaky in the pocket, often abandoning it early in order to overthrow his receivers or back across his body. Sometimes, he even did both at once. Granted, Harris was making his first start on the road and Auburn gets credit for harassing him into such poor play all evening long, but it's undeniable that Harris was a definite contributor to the early deficit -- the true freshman completed just three of his 13 passes for 58 yards and converted no third downs, leaving an already-tired LSU defense to take the field again and again as a result."

Cannot believe in 2 years BH6 has shown no improvement.

Sure u can, u put in someone who can hit the <25 yd route often and unload the 8 in a box so everything operates better. It was obvious BH wasn't the answer a LONG time ago.

He hasn't been coached at all, we run an incredible simple and easy to defend passing offense and route tree, he's basically asked to get first downs on 3rd after 2 runs have failed and everyone in the stadium knows what's coming.

Even if that was true, you surely can put your QB in better sitatuations. If you've got a right handed QB with questionable accuracy, you don't roll to the left on your first fricking pass play of the year.

what i like about Etling is he makes it a point to step into his throws. Harris goes all arm, throwing off his back foot. Stepping into your throws maks you more accurate and gives the appearance of more control in the pocket.

I apparently concern quite a few people by presenting my arguments with facts and video evidence, not tired clichés and blatantly false statements.

Harris hasn't done himself any favors this year, but he also hasn't had much help from any offensive unit on play calling, at times.

gotta play the hand you are dealt. harris might not have the mentality to handle this offense. maybe the play callers had their hands time to an extent.

Maybe, but I pointed out in another thread that the play calling was actually very similar for both QBs. Both struggled with the low success rate throws and both had their moments on some "creative" plays (2 wheel routes for instance). Harris missed a few hitches on 3rd down. Etling missed one or two in the flats.

Exactly what I was saying. On tv they just showed his 52%, or whatever it was last year, completion percentage, being 6th lowest in NCAA last year. Then he rolled left. I felt all hope was abandoned. Lol

Its pretty simple really. No trust in Harris to throw over middle or with touch underneath so you try to get creative. That equates to rolling him left to perhaps catch D off guard. It was a bold strategy Cotton. and we've seen how it plays out.

Next man up.
