Center position is crucial in the exchange at the start of each offensive play, and we may see two centers split time this year. Pocic and Porter. For the sake of everything football , say it just aint so.
If they do this it is because:
* They know the guy who is #2 has the potential to be better than the #1 and at worst know that they must rely on #2 if #1 gets hurt.
* They know the guy who is #2 isn't ready to be the starter and therefore currently isn't as good as #1 and even could be a liability if he plays before he is ready.
* They suspect that they can bring #2 along fast enough to be be ready at some point in the season and perhaps even upgrade that spot.
With that being said, it would be stupid NOT to find opportunities to get #2 (Pocic) as much time as possible when the opportunity presents itself while relying on #1 (Porter) until Pocic outperforms him.
