Look, this was a classic negotiation in which the parties were required to accept a common goal: find a way to play the game, or be held to public condemnation. Once the parties acknowledged that truth, they then were free to utilize the strengths at hand, and had to deal with the weaknesses. Florida simply was in a weaker negotiating position. That said, the final result was a fairly balanced compromise. In doing business deals, I long ago learned the truth that a fair settlement is one that nobody is completely happy with. But when the deal is struck, it is in the interest of both parties to claim victory and depart the field. Foley's comment was quite simply childish, and foolish. Stankey's comment was, in effect, an acknowledgment that Florida came out on the (slightly) short end of the stick, and an attempt to soften the criticism due to come Foley's way. I suspect that Stankey, having made that comment, is royally pissed off that Foley was then not gracious.

Yes that was a clear shot at LSU and what effect that will have on LSU sports going forward might not be in our favor. Sankey is in his first year as SEC comish and I think it would be safe to say if he thinks LSU was the one being unreasonable in this ordeal which definitely has left egg on his face. I think it is safe to assume he will not forget this incident anytime soon and anytime he gets a chance to stick it to LSU I would assume he will.
Might be over thinking this a bit, but I don't think so.
