Will he get some swings this year? He was an awesome hitter/catcher in High School too. I'm almost sure he would bat better than the catchers we have. I know he's doing a good job pitching but i'd like to see him get some swings in.

I just hope Hawthorne calls him Byrd or Haydel or something completly wrong like he does anyways.

JH kills me with his "old man going crazy" announcing style! haha

Not to hijack this thread but last night I took my radio headphones to the game and listened to JH while I watched the game in person.

There were several times when he would describe the action and I had to wonder if he was at a different game than I was.

For example, on a ground ball roller base hit by Hanover (or Katz, I forget which) over the mound, Hawthorne described it as a line drive to the outfield that the MS outfielder got to on one bounce.

The fans say "Sammy" in the section where I sit.

He wasn't thrown out. It was a base hit grounder over the mound.

OK Sam getting to hit? Does anyone know if this has been discussed? If he will get a chance?

Ross has come along nicely as of late, and Peterson would be coming in "cold" to bat, whereas Ross has been at the plate numerous times.

You must not follow LSU baseball very closely. Ross has batted near .400 over the past two weeks. He started the game last night at .302.
