I think it was Robert Royal who said Saban was surprisingly fun to be around and that he could be a total goof at times to lighten things up. Sort of contrary to the image most fans have of him.

Outstanding college football coach.

Saban is a great coach no doubt. He was very good at LSU but nothing like his success at Bama. Why, when arguably he had a better recruiting base at LSU? The difference is the REC. If you can't see that then you have your head in the sand. Keep pumping Saban and his 'process' folks. When he leaves, and not til then will the NCAA come snooping around. Until then, Bama will continue with the insane recruiting classes and remain a dynasty. We will just have to deal with it....

Did Ryan Clark say what happened with Miami? He is only as good as his recruiting. He failed at the highest level.

He is not a good man management coach. His scare tactics work in college

I don't believe they are scare tactics, his players seem to love him, or at least not hate him.

Sabans attention to detail is unsurpassed.... I have talked to Toefield on a lot of occasions and he said Saban could be a jerk but the respect his ability to coach was through the roof.... Toefield also said Miles wanted to be everyone's buddy.... that was the difference in his eyes.....

That once during a game his senior year that Saban laid into him for missing a pre-snap check and when Ryan cut him off during his tirade he lit into him for another 40 minutes.

He laid into him for 40 minutes during a game? Shouldn't he have been coaching?

After the game was the 40 minute tirade. Should have explained that more clearly.

If he should come to LSU, and Coach O doesn't keep him accountable like Saban does. It will not end pretty for him or us.
That's exactly why I hope Orgeron doesn't get him because he will walk all over Orgeron and do what he wants to do. He will call passing plays on first, second, third and fourth downs. Lol And if y'all don't run him out of town first he will fricking probably quit on LSU like he did at Tenn, the dick. Kiffin has an ego that only someone like a coach Saban can keep in check because Saban's ego is larger than his and Saban won't play that shite with him. Lol

I hate Satan but the guy is where he is because of the little things. LSU is where it is and can only blame itself.

This is such bullshite.

I am tired of hearing about it. Saban went to a league with Parity and got crushed, fired, run out of town...however you want to classify it. Saban could not hack it in the NFL where every team has talent and skilled coaches. When faced with an opponent of equal talent he underachieves.

Say what you want, college football is still an amateur sport. Saban is great at abstruse amateur setting. Don't think he will work on professional level

There is a myth that Saban failed in the NFL. A lot of you all make up your own history. In 2005, he took a 3-13 team and made them
9-7 with a closing win over the New England Patriots in Foxborough. The next year his starting quarterback, Daunte Culpepper got injured early in the season. They fell to 6-10. He had one good year and one bad year. He was not fired. He was hired away from the Dolphins by Alabama. Wayne Huizenga did his best to hang on to him. This is typical intellectual laziness. Had the Dolphins signed Drew Bree's, they may very well have made some playoff runs. Of course, if I remember back then, Saban was also upset that the Dolphins were over the salary cap in 2007, so who knows? But Saban was not an abject failure that so many say he was

The part about Saban's coaching tree is interesting. Jimbo Fisher did win a National Championship, Will Muschamp or Kirby Smart have yet to prove themselves, while Jim McElwain has coached Florida to two SEC East Titles

In the unauthorized bio on Saban, Matt Maulk thought Saban was a good coach, but not a good person. He even went out of his way to state that Saban's personal treatment of him was why he left a year early, and that he wouldn't want his son playing for the guy. Evidently once Saban got him to LSU, he jumped the kid over every little thing and got to the point of being adversarial towards the QB who helped him win his first NC. Maulk decided enough was enough and left.

Damn, why don't some of you just blow saban for God's sake. Good lord man frick him. He's an a-hole. He's the coach at alabama. I don't wish any ill will towards the man but I sure don't like him. Some of you need to get over this saban love affair and just get behind coach o with the same passion you have towards alabamas head coach. It's really sad and shows insecurity. Geaux coach o and geaux tigers. frick saban and frick bama.
