LSU is obviously a running team, why can't we see Fournette get a 30+ carry game like Nick Chubb did more than once. the ND game he had 13 touches, you can't maximize a guy who was on fire that day with 13 touches, still upset about that loss

maybe because miles actually cares about his player's ability to be productive NFL players and having a long and prosperous career.

i have no problem, for the most part, with how Miles utilizes our backs.

30+?

No. You'll hurt the kid.

If Gurley hadn't been injured Chubb wouldn't have seen that workload.

Yeah I'm sure that's it. Or he does it to keep fresh legs in at the position.

I think this is why we keep getting all of these quality backs. They know we arent going to work them into the ground in college.

I'm not saying 30 a game, but in that ND game it would have been nice to see more that 13 touches

LSU hasn't had to rely on a single ball carrier for several years now. Despite Fournette's obvious talent LSU doesn't need to pump him into the line 30 plus times a game.

that is a misleading stat

when LSU scored, they scored quick

not many long sustained drives for LF to get a lot of carries

These kids dream of playing in the NFL, and Les promises not to run them into the ground before during their time at LSU.

Isn't there some insane statistic that Shyrone Carey is the only Les Miles back to not have made an NFL roster?

Because:
1. We're not trying to run him in the ground.
2. We're not trying to get him injured.
3. We have a stable of RB studs behind him.
4. He can run harder in the 4th quarter if he's at 18-22 carries than if he's at 30.

13 is too few, I agree. The coaches know that. But 30 is way too many. Plus, we have so much talent at RB - it'd be a shame to not use it all.

30 isnt to many for an 18 year old on the last game of the season.

stable of backs, not getting injured..thats all fine, but lets win the damn bowl game.
why do we have to assume a 19 yr old kid will get injured if he carries the ball 30 times, Melvin Gordan looks just fine, looks like he's getting stronger. I want the players to do well in the NFL, but I'm also tired of losing games we must win. Don't run him into the ground, really because we don't have to. But when a guy is having a "special" day you feed him, no if ands or buts, especially in a damn bowl game! 11 carries, 2 returns. You score fast ok, what about in the 4th qtr??? If Fournette gets 20 touches in that game, we win by 2 scores.

you're giving Miles too much credit. That's got nothing to do with it. Miles doesn't get paid by the NFL as a farm team coach. He does it to keep our guys fresh and healthy for THE COLLEGE TEAM HE COACHES.

We have a stable of very good, virtually interchangeable, RBs and don't need to feed one guy 30 times.

some people read this board enough to actually believe this.

though a stale topic, running fournette 13 times a game is an opponent's dream. giving each RB a package needs to end this year.
