I saw the other thread predicting the first series of the game and many people seemed to think it would be run/run/pass/punt, which is a common narrative. I wanted to see if the narrative was true so I went to last year's play-by-play drive charts.

MSU - 2
Auburn -1 (with 45-21 lead)
SU - 0
EMU - 0
SC - 0
UF - 1
WKU - 0
Bama - 1
ARK - 0
A&M - 4

So, LSU ran/ran/pass/punt nine times in 156 drives (5.6 percent). The run, run, pass, punt narrative couldn't be further from the truth. Actually, and I haven't done this research but will, drives that started with a pass were less successful.

Interesting note: LSU has scored a touchdown on its last 5 offensive possessions, not including a kneel down to end the Tech game.

You really think half this board watches the games?

4 times against A&M. That actually made sense because you really got the feeling that we could run it down A&M's throat. I have no problem with trying to run on A&M over and over again. They are always soft.

Against the team that literally ranked 127th in rush defense. Let's break out the fricking confetti.

I said it was an interesting note. I didn't say it necessarily proved anything, yet scoring five TDs on five consecutive drives doesn't happen all the time no matter the defense.

Nah, bro. You don't understand. People FEEL like the offense is awful and archaic. Therefore, it IS awful and archaic.

Youre on a board where bullshite myths get regurgitated ovee and over by people that dont know shite about football. Facts and stats only matter when they back up their arguments.
For example, remember how many time lsu sec rank in offense was posted after 2014? Yeah now those rankings are meaningless and somehoe the eyetest carries more weight than actual facts

I seem to remember a good amount of pass, run, run or pass, run, pass. the problem was our 1st down pass was not successful and it screwed the possession up.

what I would like to see early this year is some pass, pass, pass possesions. we really need to work on our passing game; all you need is one completion for a first.

While I agree that the play calling isn't as bad as the stats say. I question the bases of the stat you posted. Does it take into account drives that had first downs as a result of a running play?

No, simply drives that were run, run, pass, punt to begin a drive. There were several run, run, run, punt drives (maybe 2-3 total when a 3rd-down run got stuffed).

The stats really only matter against SEC competition. That's where the truth is told.

Why is that? Not all sec schedules are the same.
