Harris is seriously an elite talent. His arm is remarkable.

This is great news.

Not bashing but his stats don't actually show any improvement so I don't see your point. Not saying he's awful or anything but we won't win a championship with him starting

I believe this team is set up like the 2011 team that only needed a few plays from the QB to keep the D honest. There's playmakers all over the field.

However, I think the offense has a chance to be dynamic with Harris' skillset. With this being AJ's 3rd year, I want to believe that he can manage the team deep into early next year. But, I just don't see him having the tools to make this offense special.

Remains to be seen I guess.

Article about RS freshman starting at center talking about how good Harris has become, yet you have to bring Jennings into the conversation.

LT Jerald Hawkins (6-6, 309): “Long and athletic. You combine his technique and his pass blocking, he will be special.”

RT Vadal Alexander (6-6, 330): A very good run blocker. He’s played right tackle and left guard. He clears the path effectively. He’s super one on one.”

LG Ethan Pocic (6-7, 301): “He constantly works on his technique. Probably the strongest of all the linemen. He sleeps and breaths football. He loves it.”

RG Josh Boutte (6-5, 340) or K.J. Malone (6’4-295): “Josh will battle you. He’s a giant with the most raw strength I’ve ever seen. He’s ridiculously strong. K.J. is dedicated, consistent and working extremely hard.”

This may be how it turns out, but I wouldn't be surprised if some players were moved around. Vadal was promised a shot at tackle to stay, and rightfully so, but you have to get the best 5 at the right spots. I won't be surprised if Pocic and Vadal end up switching positions, although the staff may feel better with Pocic at LG to help Clapp with the line calls. Pocic may be one of those players who is a victim of his own abilities. He should probably be the LT this year but was too valuable to keep off the field.

because he was the worst qb in the conference last year?

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Brandon Allen was the worst QB in the conference the year before. His stats were near identical to Jennings as well, yet he improved in every facet from

completion percentage
yards passing
yards per attempt
pass TDs
ints
rush TDs

Jennings improving is not at all impossible like you want to believe. In addition, the talent around him now has experience. While I want Harris to start, I find peace of mind that Jennings will be a solid backup and able to lead the team whenever his number is called.

I'm a posi tiger and I lack confidence in Jennings. I just don't see it happening. I also think Allen will likely always be mediocre.

Was just thinking the same..

I would want Harris' potential over Allen or Jennings

Don't care how okay or good Allen was. Still not very impressed.

Let's let the fall play out

I feel like the right side will be very dominant run blocking, Boutte and Alexander will pancake people but so will Pocic and Hawkins are also very dominant many our line will be better this year or at the worst the same

Well I look at other offseason stuff outside of LSU and I see improvement from guys like Prescott (better passer, looks more polished), B Allen (more confident and in control and also better guys to throw to now), and Towles (year of experience plus air raid will improve him as a passer and with Boom Williams, will be a dangerous 1-2 punch in the run game).

I can see Allen doing something like 60% 2400-2600 passing 22-24 TDs. I can also see something like that with Jennings and that should be enough with our run game and defense to win 10+ games.

I've told several people this, but I think Harris can be a breakout player like JT Barrett or Anu Solomon were. We run some option, his talent to throw to is ridiculous, his RB talent is ridiculous, and he has a Laser arm that will back people off the line ala Cardele Jones.

Connor Cook is an example of a young breakout star in a pro style offense. What's better is that Harris is a weapon to run as well.

Last time I checked, fans being impressed doesn't win championships.

Wow, is this the largest OL we've ever had? Average size is ridiculous.

Last time I checked Allen or Arkansas QB's don't win championships..

And LSU does.. So what if I'm not impressed by an Arky QB's numbers.

What exactly is your point?

I was impressed by Winston and Cam Newton, and all of OSU's qbs.. They won championships.

I am simply giving an opinion that Allen is not a guy I care to see.. Keep in mind he was a junior last season.. And he still had very underwhelming games of right around and under 50%. He had no TD passes on us. We couldn't score so he got a W.. But he's not a guy I care to see us emulate. Harris has impressive talent. The guy was a true freshman who should have had a chance to just redshirt.. But we didn't have the depth for that.

Here's a link to Allen's stats.

LINK /

People are so dense. They see overall numbers and assume a guy is good.. Look at him on a game to game bases. He was straight shite for the most part until the easy back end of their schedule.. He didn't do shite in any game of importance except maybe the GA game.. He didn't even light up a&m in the end zone.. Illinois is meh. He was a complete no show vs Alabama and LSU.. Among others..

Why settle for that? His overall numbers don't tell the whole story and even they are average

Did Matt Mauck impress you? What about Matt Flynn? AJ McCarron? Greg McElroy? They all won championships too and they weren't otherworldly talents. My point is that it doesn't matter if the QB is impressive or not. If he can do what the coach asks him to do and wins games, then you go with that guy. Whether he has a noodle arm or a cannon, if he can the ball where it needs to be, that's your guy. Bottom line. Anything else is a bonus. People get infatuated with arm talent and other physical gifts, but if they don't have the mental part down, then what good is it?

Clapp is going to be a good one. Leadership, by all reports works hard and is respected by the other players. I'm looking forward to seeing him play this year.
