That certainly doesn't leave much room for error

Yep, luckily though I think this list is only as accurate as the RPI is. And with this many games left the RPI is still just something that's interesting to look at. As is the needs report at this point.

That said, it does seem about right for us. Our remaining schedule only has 9 games against top 50 teams. Possibly 12 if South Carolina can get back into the top 50.

Nope, certainly doesn't. Although, as of now on paper, most of the remaining road games don't look that tough...other than the finale at South Carolina. Home schedule looks to have some tougher series coming up, but we all know how road games go (especially with a series at MSU).

This report lists the various scenarios for each team to finish higher than the team currently in the shown key RPI positions, those that correspond to the various seeding or at large thresholds, assuming that all other teams maintain their current winning percentage. It's highly speculative, since those RPI levels will move up or down, and the committee is highly unlikely to just take the top 8 in RPI for the national seeds, for example, but it can be useful as a rough guide. The report is updated daily around 8:30 AM CDT.

You have to remember that this is based on every other team maintains their current winning % which won't happen.

I have a feeling the non-conference schedule is going to prevent us from a National Seed.

I would say 11 home wins and 7 road wins would do it. That puts us at 46-11 and around the 20 win mark in SEC. Good enough for 7-8 range.

Our non-conference schedule last year was much worse. We had a worse RPI at this time last year that we do now.

To compare, this year so far we have played 8 non-conference games against teams in the top 100 of the RPI. Last year we played 3 the entire regular season.

We've been getting Top 8s in spite of our OOC schedule due to suberb conference play and/or conference tourney play.

Basically 22-2 to maintain a top 8? That seems a bit much. Maybe if we were currently on the outside looking in

We are on the outside. We are 15.

This is about RPI, not rankings or seeds.

You do realize that we have been in the top 8 in most polls almost the entire year. With an average RPI? If we keep this winning up, we will not have to worry about RPI. Just win and RPI takes care of itself to an extent.

I don't mind playing some scrubs and allowing some backups PT. It's nice to know that we can get some guys in the lineup that may be needed in crunch time for whatever reason. Even if LSU ends up with an RPI around 10-12 I don't see that holding them out of a top 8 seed if we are top 2/3 in SEC. And if we aren't top couple in SEC, we don't deserve a top 8 seed.

oh thought that was what we needed to do to secure a top 8. Excuse my ignorance, but who gives a shite about a top 8 rpi? If we win 2/3 on weekends & sweep the midweeks, I'd think we'd lock up a top 8 seed. Right?
