If only there were a thread to discuss the polls and rankings...

The RPI has its flaws, but what specifically is your beef with Dallas Baptist? They're a good team.

It doesn't really matter what DBU RPI is, they won't get a national seed

RPI is a better at the end of the season. The major conference teams will start to rise up the RPI as the end of the season gets closer.

I agree that isn't an rpi #1 schedule. If lsu had that schedule, we could potentially end the year with only 4 or 5 lost.

RPI isn't going to perfect yet. Dallas Baptist played a tough schedule thus far, therefore will be up there because they've done well against it. Unfortunately for them they have some stinker series coming up which regardless on how they do against it will drop them in the RPI:

3x Indiana State who is #106
3x Southern Illinois who is #264
3x Charlotte who is #177
3x San Francisco who is #163
3x Wichita State who is #154

Their SOS is definitely overrated which makes their RPI overrated

Would love to have DBU come here for a regional

Much better than the typical Jackson St/SWAC opponent we're always stuck with

Yeah. They just dropped a couple to a pretty good Missouri State team. I wanted to go check that series out but I didn't really have time with it being Easter weekend. Lot of good arms on DBU and Tate Matheny at Mo St might be an All American candidate.

Looks like their 4 game series against #256 UMASS-Lowell being cancelled is keeping their SOS afloat. Had they played that series, even with a sweep, their RPI would probably be in the teens.

Also 17 of their 29 games to date have been on the road. Playing that many games on the road abuses the RPI formula.

RPI is just a tool to help decide those last few spots in both baseball and basketball.
I think it's valid.

LSU basketball is a great example, the RPI could have kept them out but the marquee wins they had on the schedule locked them in.

Same thing in baseball a couple of years ago, the RPI was there and LSU probably should have been in but the late season run was against bad teams that padded the resume and the NCAA saw through that.

LSU's out of conference RPI is a joke. If it wasn't for the Houston College Classic, there's no telling how low their RPI would be. Houston (#8 at the time) is the only ranked team LSU has played all year. I'm surprised LSU's RPI is as high as it is.

It means nothing in relation to the RPI, but it means they've got arm talent. And that can take them a long way. I think they're better than Kennesaw St was last year.

They're a well coached team and do a good job of developing undervalued (out of high school or JC) kids into good college players and pro prospects. Seems like they always have a pitching prospects.
