Gaining a lot of steam:

They really want Mariota in SD, obviously Rivers to Tennessee spells a stop to Mett starting there - at least for another year or two.

Although Rivers>Mett right now, I doubt Tennessee would trade the #2 pick for him.

Tennessee needs a lot more than a quarterback.

They might have the worst roster top to bottom in the entire league.

They really need to invest in the meat of their roster. Rivers won't be able to do shite with that roster either. Trade that second pick for as many extra picks as they can get. They have an underratedly bad front office.

If you can't trade the #2 pick for a guaranteed starting QB, who would you be willing to give that pick up for? An unsure college QB? A linebacker? An offensive lineman?

Are you high? You don't think Tennessee would want the Chargers #17 pick along with Rivers?

should trade their #2 pick for multiple draft picks and build an offensive line

A defensive front 7 guy or an offensive lineman I can pay rookie contract to for next 4 years rather than a high priced QB that still won't be able to succeed with the pieces they have.

Agreed, Rivers might get them to like 3-7 before getting injured for the rest of the year because the OL simply isn't good enough.

Exactly.

Rivers is worth more than the #2 pick.

I'm sure it would be San Diego's 1st and Rivers for the Titans 1st and 2nd or 3rd. Still think it's a stupid trade for Titans though. Even if Mett never amounts to anything, you build your roster for when you are capable of utilizing a good qb.

My opinion is to convince Philly to go nuts over Mariota and get a shitload of picks from them. From there, they can make more moves with the crop of picks they have. No one can succeed with that roster at QB.

So rivers would bitch about moving a few hours away because he likes San Diego but would welcome being farther away. Got it

Lol no.

Rivers for the #2 pick would be a steal for SD. Titans would probably offer another pick and want SDs first rounder in return

Titans need a lot of pieces. I don't put a lot of stock in the Rivers to TN & Mariota to SD talk.

Also, I don't think Zach.M is the long term answer for the Titans

With the Titans you never know, but I don't agree with the article. This would probably help Mett in the long run to have Rivers for one year. Rivers is 33 and a very solid QB.
The problem is the Titans will not be very good next year in all probability. I would get as many draft picks for the 2nd pick as humanly possible.

In all candor I don't think either of the top two QBs in the draft will do much in the NFL. I know the Titans like Mett. However, if he gets hurt again this year, which would be three years in a row it is going to bring back memories of Jake Locker and frankly his value will drop to other teams.

If the Titans fire Whineshunt after this season. Metts time in TN will be over.

No he is not, the Chargers would have to give up their 1st rounder and probably an additional later round pick

At 33 I don't think Rivers is worth the 2nd pick. He will be done or an experienced backup soon enough.

Trade the pick and get more bodies... What Tenn needs is a solid couple #1's and a lot of later round picks... Rivers gets beat up enough in SD. He would get killed and frustrated in TENN...
