Any thoughts as to what team shows up for the tournament, and why consistency is so hard to find?

Well first, they actually have to show up at the tournament.

Before this goes horribly wrong for you:

rhyme

To answer your question, no one knows. The team is an enigma.

Only thing I can see is that we tend to play better as the underdog, so that's a good sign for the Arkansas game. Beyond that,

An easier way to answer this question is to look at other coaches- Do you ever see Coach K , or Bobby Knight etc teams display this eratic behavior- they may lay an egg once a season or even for a half - but coaching corrects this

I am not putting Coach JJ down- just saying he needs to improve his coaching staff and take input from his asst coaches. This late in the season this is a coaching deficiency.

Is not called a spell check mishap if your brain does not know the correct letters to use.

They are not great on defense and have no real height at center. Our squad doesn't block out anyone. We can be beaten by anyone and play with anybody in the country. LSU can't just show up and win they have to bring at least their "B" Game to Win.

At that level, you need a HC who's a master motivator. Remember that these kids are students and often are playing with school issues in the backs of their mind. They're not professional athletes and should not be expected to perform as such. Watch Calipari. Watch Pitino. Watch old clips of Dale Brown, Dean Smith, or John Wooden. Those guys all mastered the art of finding a way to ignite the passion in their teams. JJ seems to struggle with that this season which is a bit of a mystery. At UNT and in his first two years at LSU he often got his teams to over-achieve. Certainly not the case with this team. Other than Hornsby, they do not always give max-effort and that's on the players but also on the Coach.

there are similarities between jj and Dale but a major difference, and I mean major is Dale could motivate his team-

JJ seems to have the Trent Johnson gene - just sit or stand on the sideline and watch it all happen

Sometimes the other team plays better. The effort on D wasn't great early but tenn was hitting everything early.
