re: Remember when we had to beat a top ranked 58-5 A&M team 2x in 1989 to advance to the CWS?

I do remember that series. I was an LSU baseball fan before that, but that series was incredible.

Was it on TV? I remember being a kid and listening to it on the radio. The whole state was on fire with excitement. Everyone was talking LSU baseball and beating the hated Aggies made it even better.

Not sure what that has to do with now, but it is a great memory.

They had 12 losses when we played them in 1991.
I caught the mistake before you even posted. However, I was about to post 63-13, but I think we gave them number 12 or they had more wins.
I do know there were 2 teams with 60 wins in that CWS and Skip was the boss with that staff of arms.

That was a great moment. I wish I was alive to see it in person.

Yea, I was 1. But I love this. I have been hoping we lose one honestly ( don't get me wrong I would have rather win em all). But I felt we needed to face a bit of adversity was hoping it would come a bit sooner. But we will see what this team is made of. I think we take OSU to a second game. We see what happens at that point.

I remember this very well. Too bad Big Ben is in the booth and not on the mound.

It was the beginning of our dominance and with Pat Garrity hitting the double, started an amazing run of surprising LSU players stepping up in the post season, like Gary Hymel, Rich Cordani, Tim Lanier, Jeremy Witten.
Ben McDonald actually played Right Field in this game and batted, too, btw.
