I don't usually condone threads just for the purpose of calling someone out, and I fully expect this thread to be whacked with quickness, but after enduring the insufferable TommyDaTiger's drunken ridicule during much of the season for doubting this team...hey Tommy,

K, I'm done. You can insult my home office now.

The thing is though, he was spot on at the time. Something happened in the last couple weeks of the season that I can't really figure out.

it's easy to say this now that things imploded. at the time, we were going in the right direction.

I don't think anyone saw the post-A&M collapse happening like it did.

We just had just beat the #15 team. We were 9-3 in conference play and tied with Kentucky atop the SEC standings with 6 games left in which we'd be favored to win 5 of those.

Hornsby happened and we were never the same.

I really think it goes deeper than that. Sure that was a blow but there's definitely more to it than that.

You could sense something was wrong watching the Alabama game at home, which was before Hornsby went down. They had already fought so hard to pull themselves out of the whole they dug. The path to the promised land was right there before them.

Yet, they came out there against a team they had already beaten on the road and played with absolutely no sense of urgency or level of execution and focus.

Yeah, the "I told ya so" bulllshit is so unnecessary. He did a good job up until this season, but he messed every single thing about this season up unfortunately

+1 to you good sir.

I came on the board after the wins over Moo St and Auburn and said we need to be cautious due to competition level. And this Tommy idiot came back with attacks, that being BS and how Johnny doesn't get an credit.

Sad thing is he'll have one more year of being the Johnny Jones fan club president, as we all watch our basketball program miss the tourney again next year.

Something may have happened to thoroughly and speedily bottom out the program but the inconsistencies that have plagued the hoops team have been noticeable since Jones got here. You give him time to recruit and build and develop but the problems have never went away and likely won't. The lid on the team is the lid of the coach. JJ loves LSU and has given it his best but the old line powers have forced him into a position he's simply not gifted to lead in. I blame them.

no we weren't. we had just come off an awful dec and the point he was making was relax, which was absurd at the time. the tigers were in big trouble.

and the question that all the reasonable people were asking was could lsu keep it up when they started playing the better teams. the answer was resoundingly, no.

based on what? let me guess, most wins in first 3 years of any lsu coach. if you think he was doing a good job, you have really really super low expectations

Football and basketball falling off the face of the earth when it matters most. Tough sports year.
