Recruiting direction from here? ( if LSU is the talk of the country in 2017)

I'm asking what do you guys think LSU would likely do if the season is turned around in 2017 and now 2018 recruits all of a sudden want in? Say if we have the option to bring in or flip a top QB, OTs, and DEs. But we still have these top WRs, and DBs who like us and want to be a part of this class as well.

Do we break it off with some, offer grey shirts, stop recruiting the lesser talent? What could we do to limit the damage? We know other teams do this or have done this in the past with lots of success, why not LSU?

Would it be a long run negetive for LSU to garner early commits, to only later be replaced by much better talent, (if of course the staff notices better talent options, that are now available)? I wouldn't think there would be any chance that LSU would turn it down, if the recruit was serious. So what would our best options be?

Pulling offers isn't a good look. The "lesser talents" you are referring to are good players.

Well it doesn't have to be actual info. Recruiting board is meant to discuss recruiting I believe..

We play the recruiting game just like other schools do. Once a kid has an offer, he can sign the letter and lock in his scholarship whenever he chooses...if he waits too long and someone better comes along, then he risks being bumped out of the class. You don't hear of it openly, but often when someone suddenly backs out of his commitment and signs with a lesser program, that is often what has happened.

the moral of the story is, if you want to be a tiger, take the damn scholarship when it is offered.

I know we have great players committed, it's not a knock on any of these players. I'm just stating that interests would be high with a successful season, and there are always better players out there, maybe you didn't know about them or they were committed elsewhere, and now want to join the class. This could happen so I'm just posing the question, wanted some decent dialog. I'll ask the other board no biggie.

Except this year that's all we have signed.
Do not live in denial. The talent level and depth has changed in past few years.

A successful season and offense will change these numbers.

We just had 2 of our best classes over the last few years. Our ranking comes and goes as the ranking of the Louisiana kids. Some kids are not seen enough by the scouting companies and are underrated like they always been.

It's on our staff to not focus on the current star rankings, but focus on the player and his abilities or potential. We don't need a shift. We just need to catch the kids from Louisiana, especially the next few years where you will get all the stars you want.

In one area of the team particularly, there is a glaring weakness of top line talent.

Recruiting doesn't really work that way. It's relationship building over months sometimes years.

Is is possible if we have a great season a player or 2 may have increased interest? Sure. But a wholesale change? Not likely.

No he can't. That's against the rules. He can verbally commit, but that does not lock in anything. If you doubt that, remember the offensive lineman we booted out the class at the last minute in favor of Gunner Kiel. I can't remember his name, but he went to Auburn and became a starter.

I hear ya. You can accuse LSu and Miles of alot of things but not 3 star U. Maybe NFL U or possibly 3 star "O" would make sense.

So will many other teams' 3 star players. Theres a big difference between a high 4 star and a low 4 star. This just isnt a a good enough class to compete for championships even if a couple of these high 3 stars get moved to a low 4 star rating. Some of you can justify all these 3 star recruits because of a new coach and state talent is lower than normal, but it is what it is. Now, LSU is still in the picture for some major stars that could elevate this class to an acceptable standard. But several other schools find themselves chasing these same players trying to upgrade their classes as well. But, as it stands this is just an average SEC class and below LSU expectations.
