He is in a soft ACC where he can get 10 wins with a sub par team like he has last year.

If that's truly how he thinks, we don't want him anyway.

Winners want a real challenge - look at Saban. Never shied away from good competition. I believe Jimbo is the same way.

I have been a Miles fan from the start. I am a fan of any new LSU head coach until there is a reason to no longer support them. Like every other head coach, Miles does have his flaws. Every year under Miles I think we start the season with enough talent to match up with any team in the country, but the talent isn't always maximized. But I think the biggest issue is that we allow the Bama game to define our season.

This is just my opinion, but I think the Bama game is included in the motivation for all games leading up to that one game so when we lose then the rest of the season becomes irrelevant. I think players who were heavily recruited by both schools start to question whether or not they should have gone to Bama.. Its almost as if the Bama game defines how good of a team they think they are. If they win then they will think they can beat anybody, if they don't then they start to question just how good they really are.

I really wish Miles were more flexible with his offense. That, in a nutshell, is the reason we have this situation. If variety was/is added to the offense and they were able to maximize the talent as a whole it would be a completely different team, however; his mindset seems to be "this is the offense we run, if we execute then it doesn't matter if our opponents know what we will run on every play, if they are not as physical as we are then they can't stop us". The problem is, we play in a league that has defenses who has the talent to play physical and have the depth to play it all game. Other than that, I think we couldn't ask for a better head coach in terms of the type of program he runs.

WIth that said, I don't think Miles is the only problem. LSU fans do not maximize home field advantage. I am not sure if many of the fans realize the fan base creates the atmosphere inside the stadium. When its the middle of the 3rd quarter and all of a sudden our opponent fights their way to gain a 7, 10 pts lead, instead of the fans getting into the game by making it as difficult as possible for the opponent to communicate effectively on offense, LSU fans are hitting the exits giving our opponent an advantage. Yes, I know this has nothing to do with Alabama beating us in Alabama, but if the fans are there to support the team when they need it the most, it gives the players something bigger to play for, but when a team doesn't have loyal support then why should they be loyal to the program?

Chip Kelly is not dropping down from the NFL to come to the college level

From Rotoworld:
quote:

Appearing on Sirius XM NFL Radio, ESPN's Adam Schefter said "momentum and signs seem to be piling up against a Chip Kelly return to Philadelphia." Schefter added that the two sides are "sick of each other." The Eagles have greatly underachieved this year, compiling a listless 4-6 record while playing in arguably the league's worst division. Kelly's offense has been particularly disappointing as the Eagles have averaged just 22.9 points per game, well down from last year's 29.6. A host of college teams will be interested in Kelly if he becomes available this offseason. Nov 24 - 6:03 PM

I don't think he's going to have much of a chance. Philly is going to part ways and he is not very well liked in the NFL due to his arrogance after his first year. I see him headed back to the college ranks and don't see how a program like LSU wouldn't peak his interest.

Reason that we should keep Les Miles

The only reason to keep Miles is if LSU is not 100% certain that they can get someone better.

I have no doubt LSU will attract a 'homerun' hire, but they might not be able to replace Miles with one this year.

Jimbo Fisher is unlikely. Chip Kelly will be looking for a new job in the next 1-3 weeks, IMO.
