I missed parts of weekend games but see that Pap's hitting is digressing.

Theoretically he is supposed to be the best defensive catcher. Is that the case? How has Coomes looked on defense? Romero?

Well, considering Romero hasn't been a C because of his shoulder, I'll go with:

Pap
Coomes
Romero

How many games do you take into account before you start using terms like digressing in baseball?

The other guy used two games for Lange to determine he is digressing. I'm just curious at this point

He was hitting .400 earlier.
He's striking out and whiffing on hit and runs getting us strike out/thrown out. That's digressing.

Is this some kind of inside joke?

most steals are against the pitcher!
point! several years back - we played AAA pro new orleans & the slowest of players were stealing against the pitchers!

that lefty that pitched the other day - would have loved to have one of our speedy runners on third & i think we could have stole home!

I think the battle is between Pap and Coomes. Having 2 quality catchers is not a bad thing. Could always go Coomes early then put Pap in for defensive reasons late. Really and truly the starting pitcher should have a lot of say on who his catcher is going to be also.

If you Tards are going to recycle the same tired words and phrases over and over again, at least get it right.

According to you, Pap's hitting has temporarily left the main subject to talk about something else...

But I regress....

I mean, Pap's defensive skills aren't "all that" like everyone thinks.

One of the most hyped up players coming in and hasn't lived up to it at all.

Did Pap get benched last year for Romero's bat and Romero did well until his late season bust at the plate?

He is very good defensively and he is def the best option defensively but at some point you have to give something at the plate. If Pap could hit 260 to 280 then you can justify having him in the lineup because of his defensive ability. If he is hitting 250 then I am all for Coomes getting a shot back there.

Adrian is still the only catcher I've seen at LSU be able to consistently gun down a base runner at second without coming out of his squat.

ETA: Oh, you mean current players.

Put Romero third as catcher but he hasn't played any this year yet so it's not fair to "rate" him defensively.

runners being able to steal isn't all on the C, a pitchers time to the plate is big and not only is it easier to steal but other teams will attempt to steal more on a slow pitcher. For me receiving/framing is the most important part of playing catcher. How a catcher receives a ball on the corner can determine/skew an umpires call of ball or strike and can turn a pitch that would make the count 2-1 into 1-2 which is about a .200 difference in batting average.....for me I think Pap is the best at this
