I was thinking about this, and I wanted to know what people thought. How would y'all rank the top 5 LSU QBs of all time? Thanks.

We'll probably all come up with about the same 5.

How about ranking the 5 worst QB's? That is a lot more challenging...

How can you not even have Hodson in your top 10?

Hard to say. I always struggle with these things. How do you rate one great year (Davey) versus 4 very good years (Hodson)?

I'd say Jones, Tittle, Hodson, Russell, Davey

Matt Mauck has to be in the mix. 19-2 as a starter, 2 SEC Titles, and a National title. A Better career than most.

Didn't Planchard get a few snaps in at QB? If he did then him.

I'm not fond of the "overall record and championships" statistic as a measure of quarterbacks. Those are team accomplishments. Case in point: Russell didn't win a championship, but Flynn has won the SEC and may win the national championship in his one year as starter. Is Flynn therefore better than Russell? I don't think so.

Because Hodson had a penchant for throwing a high ball. It was the skill of the receivers such as Wendell Davis that helped make him so good in the passing game, imo. I also don't think that he was that good of a runner to escape the rush where all of these other guys were more mobile.
I'd put Pat Screen in ahead of Hodson. The trouble with Screen and even Stokely was that they spent most of their careers injured but when they were healthy, they were as good as anybody.
I doubt you ever saw most of the guys on my list, so how can you question it?

Before Nelson Stokely was injured he was leading the nation in total offense.

JaMarcus Russell will always be known as the most "physically gifted" QB that ever wore and LSU uniform. However, I would take a championship over hype every year! Isn't it ironic that we have a better offense this year after losing the #1 nfl draft pick at QB and 2 first round receivers?
