Dandy Don mentioned we win SEC outright with a rainout in Starkville. I believe that's wrong. If Florida wins they would be 21-9 and have a higher winning %. (We would be 20-9).
I think we need a Kentucky win regardless. Am I missing something or was he incorrect? Not bashing just wondering what I should be pulling for...

the way I interpret it is that we need Kentucky to beat florida. we win the SEC if that happens and we either beat msu or we get rained out.

i'm definitely a Kentucky fan today.

I think thats correct, may be wrong though. Thought I read it somewhere...

that puts us at 20-9 and them at 20-10....

Depends if you want to try to win the sec or just make sure that we get a bye in the tourny. A florida win guarantees us a bye in the tourny regardless if we win or lose. A kentucky win gives us a chance to win the whole SEC by winning or not playing today. If we lose and kentucky wins. We miss out on a bye in the tourny

You are correct. LSU needs Kentucky to win and LSU needs to win or get rained out. If Florida wins and LSU wins we share the title and if LSU doesn't play and UF wins UF would win the title.

When I first read Dandy's I though he had the records wrong but I think he just messed up in his article because he only mentions Kentucky when talking about winning the outright SEC with a rainout.

From Dandy:
quote:

If LSU wins today’s game over Mississippi State, the Tigers would claim at least a share of the overall SEC championship. If LSU wins and Florida loses to Kentucky, the Tigers would be the outright SEC champions. And get this: Since the SEC title is determined by winning percentage, a rain-out of the LSU-MSU game would result in LSU being the SEC champs even if Kentucky wins since LSU would be 20-9 and Kentucky would be 20-10.

His statement about Kentucky is correct. If he meant UF also, which I don't think he does, he would be incorrect.

BOTTOM LINE: LSU needs Kentucky to beat Florida. LSU needs to beat MSU or be rained out.

How ironic would it be if LSU wins the SEC because of a rainout?

UF is having the Gainesville wind speeds checked right now by the national weather service. Stay tuned.

Rainout scenarios:

UF beats UK, LSU-MSU rained out--UF wins SEC title and #1 seed outright
UK beats UF, LSU-MSU rained out--LSU wins SEC title and #1 seed outright
UK-UF rained out, LSU-MSU rained out--LSU and UF split SEC title, UF is #1 seed
UK-UF rained out, LSU beats MSU--LSU wins SEC title and #1 seed outright
UK-UF rained out, MSU beats LSU--UF wins SEC title and #1 seed outright

It would be so funny if we beat out Florida for the sec because of a rainout. Sweet irony

UK win, LSU loss.

UK 20-10 because of Head to Head over LSU
LSU 20-10 because of being Division Champion
UF 20-10 because of losing head to head to Kentucky.

they would be considered 3-co-champs for sec. seed wise for tourny would be kent. #1, lsu #2, florida #3 for reasons listed above.
