Quick Question about Strength & Conditioning

Does the Head Coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator have a say so in how they want the strength and conditioning coach to train and build the players?
For example: Canada says this offseason we want more explosive and speedier players.
So Moffit Incorporates more plyometric work and exercises like power cleans, lunges and squats.
Or Aranda says we need to be stronger in the middle of our D.
Then Moffit prepares a plan to help our DLine and Linebackers to at least pack on 5-8 lbs of muscle and incorporates more heavy lifts on bench and squat.
Sorry if this seems stupid. I really have no clue.

Yes
Style of play and what coaches want directly dictates strength and conditioning

Well damn that explains why Chavis Defenses get ran through like Swiss cheese. Also he's overrated as a coach.

Anyone know what kind of physique aranda typically prefers on his defenses?

Seems like Athletic tweeners. I'm beginning to notice every player on the defense is damn near crossed trained and has a secondary spot they can easily be plugged into.

Wish it was that easy

11 Arden Key's on the field at once...

Could be that with only one off-season he is working with what's given. Maybe you're right, though. Still curious to know if there was a physical trend at Wisconsin where he had time for guys to develop "his way" more.

Remember S&C is for all sports and not just Football with two Weight Rooms, etc. S&C has a Staff of about 14 people to cover all the sports. I noticed Danica Patrick and her shoulders and chest are really wide now due to her weight training which is in line with driving a Race Car for 500 Miles.

Umm all athletes need to be more explosive and faster

Staffs are more inclined to recruit players who exhibit certain physical traits rather than develop them in the weight room.
Nearly all collegiate strength and conditioning programs are designed with the intention of forming more powerful athletes (i.e. work generated over time).
Then the offensive staff will make a point to recruit quicker athletes who are expected to thrive in Canada's scheme. Some athletes are inherently faster than others. This is easily observable at the high school level.
However, Olympic lifts will always be an integral part of a collegiate strength and conditioning program.
Moffitt has utilized essentially the exact same program for nearly 20 years. Gayle Hatch's program does not vary much based off of the current coaching regime in place. There are slight tweaks and conditioning methodologies which might be implemented for certain seasons (think about yoga during Saban's tenure and Tai chi a few years ago).
Football strength and conditioning can only vary so much. The idea is to pack on muscle and implement workouts which exhibit specificity (e.g. movements most reminiscent to the sport or athletic discipline).
The entire team engages in the exact same strength and conditioning program. The only variables which are altered are weight and caloric intake. The latter is dependent on whether or not the athlete is in a metabolic maintenance period or if they are attempting to bulk or cut.

When LSU was planning in the offseason for the 2011 Oregon game in Dallas LSU worked to trim about 10-15 lbs off the DL to make their endurance better and their weight use more efficient. Since that time we have seen more teams adapt this due to the HUNH offenses and the spread schemes.

Moffitt is a Hatch disciple. They both emphasize explosive strength, as does Moffitt's former assistant at Alabama.
