Crazy game and great win. Now, I want to take some time to address different things I saw going on in the game and things that we talk about here regularly.

Offense:

1. I would think it is glaringly obvious to most fans who should be the starting QB from now on. Lee was very collected and crisp.

2. Lee's passes in the endzone were identical. The first one was a missed pass interference call.

3. Jefferson should get playing time in games, more on short yardage than anything though.

4. Ware is a good receiving threat out of the backfield.

5. Deangelo Peterson is money...all of the TEs are.

6. Oline did a solid job of blocking. They need to improve on short yardage though.

Defense:

1. Peterson's cramping is a problem. When he leaves the game, things get worse. Eugene is a poor replacement for Peterson.

2. Totally bogus pass interference call against Eugene in the endzone. Penalties extended two drives for Florida.

3. Nevis can split a double team. Truly a freak of nature.

4. Mingo was rather easily contained last night. Dont know why but it looked like he was attempting to bullrush a lot of the time.

5. Defense is playing very well right now.

Coaching:

Honestly, Miles almost lost the game last night. I say this because it never should have even been dramatic. LSU should have won this game handily.

I'm not sure who is calling the conservative offense when we are up by a score or two but I have to think it is Miles. No OC would elect to run on first and second down for every possession in the second half just because of a narrow lead. Same thing happened when Fisher was here under Miles. Miles tries too much to sit on small leads. With Lee in the game and running the normal offense, LSU would have blown the game open.

How many of you knew the fake FG was coming?? I did and I'm confused at why Meyer wasn't set up for the possibility. Crazy.

Foolish. A two touchdown lead will always give way to conservative play calling. Florida had two drives (one missed FG, one TD). Two short fields and a kick return gave them 21 points. With the way LSU's D was playing, I don't blame them.

A JJ interception and a PP7 fumble giving Fla the ball deep in out territory, combined with a blatant "No Call" holding CHatcher #37 on DuBose's KO Return are what kept this game close. The play calling got conservative, but the Momentum was changing and the staff wanted to run the time off the clock.

Look at the stats and we beat this team worse than SC beat Bama today.

When did we ever have the ball and a two touchdown lead? We should have had the peddle to the metal all game. The UNC game should have taught us that.

Les told one of his coaches to call the TO early (camera was focused on him on the sideline), as the unit was going out on the field. I didn't KNOW the fake was coming, but I figured something was up.

I call BS on the coaching critique. Though I'm not plugged into the headsets I really doubt that Milestilld PP to screw up that punt return, or fir the special teams to let Debose go on through for a TD.
Those, along with JJs INT, are the reason it was close. Ironic that those are the two strongest points on the team up until this game.

If he throws like crazy with us up, he risks handing them the game. Remember Jamie Howard?

26-14 requires two touchdowns to take the lead. Therefore, a two-touchdown lead.

Yet we almost lost on the scoreboard and SC won by two scores. I realize that there were bad calls by refs, turnovers that led to UF scores, kick return....etc. I just think Lee should have played the entire 4th and running it on first and second with a ONE score lead is not smart....not even remotely.

Solid post until you get to the coaches. Sounds a bit whiney when talking about Les. Last night was a great game, and I don't particularly see anywhere where Les almost lost us the game except for clock management towards the end (waiting 45 seconds to call the timeout). Yes he got conservative, but that's what Les Miles does. Trying to change him now or expecting anything different is like hoping water stops being wet. I didn't know the fake was coming.. Actually the only ones that did were the coaches and the players. Meyer should have had his team a bit more prepared. Jasper can hit that kick. And I have faith in the kid, but that's a lot to hang your hat on if you're miles. Florida should have been prepared, but to say they should have known is a bit of a stretch

By the way, LSU never had the ball with a two score lead. Immediately following the TD that made it 26-14, UF returned a kick for a TD. You dont sit on a one score lead for an entire quarter. It worked out for us all in the end but Miles has to play smarter than that. If they're worried about throwing a pick, they should put Lee in. at least teams are more afraid of his arm.

But he didn't. He won. Why can't you enjoy that?

BS, well part of it anyway. Interception shouldn't have happened because the best QB should have been in the game. Play calling gets conservative EVERY time we have a lead in the second half. A 2 touchdown lead shouldn't be considered safe with significant time left on the clock, much less a 6 point lead like we had last night and were still in the run, run, pass trend. Miles squats on leads too soon, fact. Once again it almost cost us the game in the final minutes. Had we been attacking in the 3rd quarter, there's a good chance we have a comfortable enough lead to squat on late in the game.

You proved the OP's point. We physically dominated Florida last night. The only close stat was the score, which is Les Miles trademark these days

Hate to use the "Saban" card...

But same thing happened a thousand times when Fisher was here under Saban. Just sayin...since he's the greatest coach in the history of human kind and all...

We NEVER went for the jugular when Saban was here...we always sat on the damn ball..ALWAYS. But ALOT of coaches do that.

Ok. Let's just make a quick observation of your ignorance. Prior to this game, Jordan Jefferson leads the SEC in interceptions thrown, and is at the bottom of the barrell in production. Furthermore, he gets stopped handily prior to Lee's first drive. Lee, marches LSU down the field for a score. Something he actually did everytime he was on the field vs UF. LSU puts JJ back in and he throws a pick. LSU later puts JJ back in and he goes 3 and out, and another series gets 1 first down before going 3 and out. Now you're telling me the coaches putting JJ in this game doesn't deserve criticism? Explain this to me? Might I remind you, the last 5 drives that Lee has been on a football field, LSU has scored, with production finally comming not just from Ridley, but TT, RS, RR, and Dlo. If your looking objectively, you have to call Les Miles a moron.

Can't blame the Gators for trying to disrupt the FG attempt. Even if the Fake FG was successful with no timeouts left for the Tigers the worse that should have happen to the gators is allowing LSU a shorter FG attempt to send the game to OT.

Just because a poster notices a few things he thinks should be improved of does not mean he doesn't enjoy the win. Too many people here bitch about everything but also too many people think just because you win you can not constructively criticize.

A Team that doesn't look to continually improve and point out mistakes is a team about to lose. I know we are only fans and not on the team but we can love and support our team and also question decisions they aren't mutually exclusive.

Also forgot that he decided to go for two too soon. Most coaches have learned this lesson. Never go for two until you absoltely need it. I'm readin most of your responses and wondering how you can defend Miles for leaving Lee on the sidelines and running predictable plays with a worse QB, in the second half, simply to protect a small lead. I'm very happy LSU won, just not sure why everyone is jumping to defend Miles.

Iwatched the game with a Michigan fan. He was actually getting upset at Miles the entire game for being an idiot. Hard not to agree with him to a certain extent.
