Why is it that the Saints can kickoff on FOX at noon and barring an OT finish by 3 pm? I realize commericals vary but I mean why is there such a diffference in the length of the game?

Thanks ... this topic comes up often at our home on Sundays.

Commercials, and the clock doesn't stop in NFL.

because CBS is trying to prolong the game whereas the NFL wants to end the games before the 2nd set starts

Pro game halftimes are much shorter than College games.

one reason is that in college the clock stops after each 1st down and doesn't restart until the ball is snapped. Maybe more TV time outs as well.

Halftimes are shorter in the nfl, I think that is the main difference.
