Really good stuff by ESPN's David Ching.

Not only has Harris yet to throw an interception, he has also been phenomenal on key passing downs. He is fifth among FBS quarterbacks in third-down Total Quarterback Rating (95.0), completing 56.3 percent of his passes (27-for-48) for 507 yards, six touchdowns and eight completions of 20-plus yards.

Good read. BH has quietly put up solid numbers. IMHO he's been the x factor in these games.

I think I'm still in disbelieve of how much he's developed.

That completion percentage jump was insane. From below half to nearly 60%

Receivers deciding to catch passes helps.

If you think about it though, that's Harris' percentage WITH the drops early in the season vs Eastern Michigan and others. That means Harris' CP is 60% including that awful 4 for whatever against EMU. If the drops aren't there or are cut in half in those games, that percentage is probably around 63-65%

all you need to know. Our offense puts QBs in bad spots when it is 3rd and long or obvious passing down. Harris has really step up this year and this is biggest +. It is so nice to not be a dead fish on 3rd down now.

Would nice to see a stat kept on "catchable passes thrown". I know that is subjective to a point, but with replay and real time recording of the stat, it really would give a better idea of a qb's accuracy than just completion percentage.
Auburn's QB, White, against Arky had a lot more catchable passes than his stats will show in percentage completions. His receivers had no hands on Saturday.

good point. A handful of the completions were 50/50 balls with good plays by WRs, but a good number of the incompletions were on the WRs, too.

KMSL!! Dude LSU don't even know what 3rd and long is lol. If not for penalties we would never be in 3rd and long.

How would you account for crappy passes that the WR makes a great catch on? Or completed tipped passes?

This was not the case in 2013. LSU was tops in the nation in converting 3rd & long. It has to do more with having a competent QB & experienced skill position players than the offensive system. Alabama this year has young receivers & they are struggling converting 3rd downs & in the redzone so far this year. It's one negative byproduct of running a pro style system. If you have young receivers, the chances are high that you will struggle on the money (3rd) down & in the redzone.

Didn't he throw one against Eastern Michigan? Or was it later changed to a fumble?

They ruled it a fumble.

Basically all you can do is the eye test. Stats don't always tell the whole truth.
