Putting Things in Perspective...

Over the last two and a half seasons, we are 31 - 4...I repeat...31 - 4 including a Cotton Bowl victory, an SEC Championship, and a BCS National Championship berth. Are things perfect on our team right now? No. We have work to do on offense, the team plays undisciplined at times, special teams have been somewhat of a disappointment...I could pick it apart all day long if I wanted to.
Most fans around the country (and the SEC except those in Tuscaloosa) would absolutely LOVE to enjoy the success we have had. Winning on the field, recruiting elite talent year in and year out, and churning out NFL prospects. Again...is everything perfect...no. We have work to do but you cannot argue with our program's success.
As a fan base, we need to all appreciate what we have. Sure it sucks that Alabama is peaking at the same time (and peaking to a level likely never seen before in college football, and in the same division as us, etc.) but we can't control that. All WE, as fans, can control is our passion and commitment to getting behind this team week in and week out.
I am not a Sunshine Pumper. I b*tch just as much as a lot of you about the lack of production on offense. I just choose to not do it on here and would rather discuss with friends and co-workers. That said...put things into perspective. It is hard to argue with 31 - 4.
GEAUX TIGERS!!! BEAT BAMA'S ARSE!!!

Nah ... the Rant has no problem arguing that point.

Well said. I am guilty of bashing at times, but I also get beside myself when they don't perform to their potential.
While the record is 31-4, it should easily be 33-2.

no one has argued the record.. but that's the PAST.
where are we getting to this year ?
if you use the past to justify poor performance, that's what you'll get.
we pay the coaches each and every year..
they are expected to perform each year.
if you want to use the PAST to judge some one's career...OK
only this year can be used to judge someone's performance.
....many chapters still to come.

I'm going to laugh for weeks if LSU beats Bama. And I think the tigers can beat them.

I don't argue miles record. It's great. What frustrates me is his seemingly unwillingness to try to get better. I've posted similar thoughts before. The best coaches, employers, employees, students, etc. are the ones who are always looking for continual improvement no mater how good they already are. I don't see that in Miles. He seems completely satisfied in his plan on how to win games. And usually it works. Great. But why not try to expand on what your already good at? It's not hard to argue that our offense has sputtered for almost 5 years now. Maybe it's bc we're the most unlucky team out there when it comes to over rated QB recruits, or maybe it's something else. Either way, it hasn't been working very well, so one would think a great coach would try to mix it up. See if he could make that side of the ball better. Just try. Even if it doesn't work. Just try something different.
I think that's what frustrates people. If he would acknowledge that the offense is a major problem area and show some attempted corrections, people wouldn't be so hard on him. Instead, he says we need to improve, but we see the same thing every week for 5 seasons. Definition of insanity.
Having said all of that. I think Miles has been great for LSU football. Just wish he would get out of his own way sometimes.

I think we've already peaked. That's the cause of concern for lots of fans. Sure Miles has a great record, but the team has been stagnant for years now and we're clutching on to our D for dear life to remain amongst the elite programs. Also, Bama is great, but I'd take last years LSU team with someone like Harbaugh leading them over Bama's squad every time so I disagree with the degree that you praised Bama's current program.

I think most including myself are frustrated becuase they feel like we are not taking advantage of some of the best talent LSU has seen. Miles needs to change his offensive philosophy if he keeps showing the country the same product recruiting is bound to suffer. If the defense slips just a little we are looking at 9-3 seasons are worst. Who is to say the defense will keep performing at this level.

Fair enough. We're 7-1 right now and number 6 in the BCS. We're still in the hunt. Let me guess-gonna' fuss anyway?

Are you insane? Before the BCS game last year would you have said this? Hop off the bandwagon and go home.
