sounds weak and desperate to me. As for Jimbo, I think that ship has sailed and the more we offer him, the more put off he will be. I think we need to look at young guys whose stock is rising and will be content to stay here for a long time. Herman would be first on my list, followed by Kyle Whittingham. If we whiff on those two, I wouldn't be totally against looking at David Shaw, Petrino, etc.

One NBA president said he called the Bulls every year to trade for Jordan. He knew he wouldn't get him, but he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't gun for the best.

You have absolutely no clue how executive searches are conducted.

We don't even know if that's true and you're already criticizing LSU.

There's nothing wrong with making a run at the top guys. And who knows, maybe you get hold of Saban right when he's pissed off at Alabama's administration. And I think LSU has an outside shot at Jimbo. It ain't great, and I expect FSU would throw the kitchen sink at him, but it's worth a shot.

I wonder if we are even looking at all of these coaches. I know that the media is asking every coach worth a damn if LSU is courting them but that doesn't mean that LSU is courting them. I wish they would stop. We aren't getting any of them mid-season so why bother them now?

I think the BoD should build a short list and then reach out their agents in November. That should be enough time to get first crack at whoever we want. There are maybe 5 programs in the country that are in a better situations then LSU and none of them are open.

Every time a high profile coach says that they are not interested in LSU (of course they aren't mid-season) it starts to create a narrative that maybe LSU isn't as great of a job as it is.

Saban is Alabama's administration when it comes to football. Do you think anyone at that university even looks him in the eye? Nope!!!

What would you expect the sitting coach of a nation power to do? Say he's leaving and mail it in the rest of the season? Some of you idiots are retarded.

Think of it this way, you're looking for a new job and have an interview. You're not going to tell your current boss you're going on an interview. You call in sick for that day and if you get the job, you don't put in your two week notice until 2 weeks before your start date for the new gig. Think of the public denials of these coaches as calling in sick.
