Put the numbers back on the helmets

The Casanova helmet thread got me thinking again that I wish like hell we would go back to the old-style 1960s helmets with just the player's number on the sides.
LSU is a national brand, and our white uniforms are classy and instantly recognizable. We really don't need "LSU" or a Tiger logo on our helmets for fans nationwide to identify us.
I know putting the numbers on the helmets would create extra details for the managers to have to deal with, but they look very cool and classic.
Thoughts/opinions/downvotes welcomed.

I think it would be cool to do with some repurposed old school looking jersey for a game or two a year

I think I lot of people would say LSU is trying to be like that other team in the West with numbers on their helmets. I like the way they are now anyways myself.

So, as much as I loved the uni's from back in the day it doesn't work for me today. Why? Because it would look like Alabama copy-cats. NO THANK YOU!

That's literally retarded with Bama in our division. We have worn the current Tiger logo for 40 seasons.

I like the look ok but, yeah, it would look like we're copying Bama. Plus, I helmets look pretty damned good the way they are right now.

I loved the style of LSU uniform from 1958 to 1971. IMHO, the best uniform ever. We should go back to that style (the "gold" was a slightly deeper shade, more of a orange yellow, and the shirt numerals were bigger). Also using that style, I would like to see one conference home game/year in our regular purple jerseys.

I really would like to see this for a throwback game each year. One year with the Cannon, Casanova style unis. Then another year go with the helmets from Bert Jones years. But don't go permanent back to the numbers. Numbers on the helmet has become a Alabama thing. Just like the classic shoulder stripes and white jerseys are ours.

Agree, a throwback game with the numbered helmets and big jersey numbers would be nice instead of the typical purple jersey night. Sort of surprised the LSU folks haven’t done something like this by now …
