Apparently people are incapable of separating the two. It is perfectly acceptable to discuss the things Etling did well and the spark he brought to the team without shitting on Harris. There is no side to be on - they both play for the same team. Etling looked great in the first half and was hurt by drops throughout the game. Leave it at that. If you've got to bring up Harris to prop up Etling you should rethink your comment.

Hopefully Etling can build on the promise he showed in the first half and the offense can recreate that efficiency as the competition picks up.

it's clear when Etling came in early we ran a completely different offense

then we ran the Miles offense and he didn't do shite, either

Great post. Most posters have only a basic working knowledge of football in the first place. I see statements being made with no knowledge of offensive schemes, play scripts, coverages, etc. People have been far to ready to jump to conclusions about either of the QBs performance vs a weaker opponent. Most have been unwilling to face the reality in the difference in play calling during the 2nd quarter. We've also ignored that once we went back to the old stuff in the 2nd half, it was same crappy passing game throughout the 2nd half. I agree that we should be rejoicing that we have finally been able to see that Etling can play. But regardless of the starter, we might actually have depth at the QB position finally.

Is it though? I mean I'm watching the replay and I've seen variations of these plays even as recently as last week. Etling being more accurate or checking it down more often doesn't mean it is a different offense.

These things are pretty easily proven with moderate film study.

Who gives a shite if Harris's feelings are hurt. This is a multi million dollar sport. You don't make decisions based on someone's feelings, either perform of sit on the bench!

The OP has more down votes than up votes.

You'd think people would have learned during the Lee/JJ stuff that these guys are doing the best they can and they don't deserve all of the shite they get.

This is what I noticed more. Etling seems to actually read the defense and looks at more than one reliever.

It's isn't that LSU and Miles didn't want to throw to TE and RBs, previous Qbs just never reached those progressions

Atleast part of your username is right. Trash. These are 18-22 year old son and there are 40nyear Olds bashing them when they are doing the best they can.

Bash the coaches for not coaching them up or leaving them in when they are in over their heads. Not the players

When you speak the truth, with a balanced opinion, expect down votes.

Not shitting on harris, just stating the obvious as I see it. Harris cannot play qb in the sec. He is a horrible qb. He has not improved one bit since his freshman year. He is a fickle and fragile dude who cannot handle the pressure of being a bigtime qb at lsu. He's just not good enough to play here and it seems the coaching staff has FINALLY seen the light. Etling on the other hand has shown he is more composed in the pocket and makes better decisions than harris. It was evident from the first snaps he took that he had better command of the offense than harris. It looked night and day different. The whole team fed off of etling and the spark/energy he has brought to the offense. Harris will not see the field again at lsu unless etling is injured. He was given ample opportunity and never capitalized...it's etling team now, and I'm excited about the rest of this season.

I agree. It is what it is . I like BH but he just isn't a SEC QB. I'm. Not sure Etling is either.

Etling gave a spark and looked great in the second quarter, let's wait till next week before we make him a Heisman candidate.

Second half was more of the same bs offensive play we are used to.

This isn't do the best you can league this is the SEC. Maybe we should give them all blankies and participation medals.

Saying Harris is a terrible QB that can't read a defense or run the play book is not bashing him. That's life, sometimes we fail, either do more to get it right or go home and try another profession.
