It was evident that the long layoff played a big part in the Tigers' slow start tonight. I'm proud of the heart they showed in overcoming a large deficit to get the win and improve to 6-2 on the season.

Looking ahead:

vs. Texas Southern
vs. Charleston
at Wake Forest

We should get to 8-2 going into Wake. They are beatable and that will be an important game for the confidence of this team heading into SEC play. One game at a time!

Heart is only going to get them so far. They will lose a lot of heartbreakers with sloppy play and lethargic defense

Yep, a lot of hate was thrown at these guys preseason. Hopefully they continue to improve. Didn't do anything right except play good defense in the second half but still won.

They played better defense in the second. I'm glad they got the win but I'll hold out any optimism until they learn to play better as a unit and not be in the air or chasing a defender for half of the possession. They were helped out tonight when NCWs shots went cold. They were severely outplayed on both ends in the first.

IMO, the current state of the team will lose these type games in the future unless they improve with consistency.

We barely beat NC Central, a team that is basically the same as Charleston this season. But seriously, I will enjoy it more if we get to 13-2. That's when things would get legit for this team...

That would give us all those wins you said plus 4 SEC wins including two on the road (@AM and @Mizz)

Charleston beat LSU soundly last year, don't go assuming wins with this team

DO NOT come here with facts dude! For real though, we will handle them this year. You got to remember that kids these age love "payback".

Exactly. These 18-21 year old student athletes do hear and read all of the negativity spewed about how bad they are going to suck. Yet here they are at 6-2.

NC Central had beaten Missouri and only lost to Ohio State by six. They were not a bad team by any means. But yes we didn't play particularly well. Not enough energy, especially on defense. Way too much one on one play and three's taken. Patterson should not shoot another three the rest of the season. He needs to buy into his role as a point guard and set up other people. Whatever happened his shot seems to be gone. And how can we not go through Reath on offense everytime? There were so many times when he didn't even touch the ball.

I see this team headed the same direction as last year's team!! We do rebound pretty well on the defensive side of the ball but rarely have the opportunity to rebound due to poor defensive pressure. I also don't understand how JJ can leave someone like Patterson on the court for the final minutes of the game in crunch time when he has played so poorly as of late???
