In 2014 we threw the ball on 30.8% of our offensive plays and completed 50% of those passes. Only 15% of our plays were completed passes.

In 2015 we threw the ball on 35.5% of our offensive plays and completed 53.6% of those passes. Just 19% of our plays were completed passes.

What percentage of plays would we have to pass and what percentage of those passes would have to be completed in order for you to be convinced that we have an legitimate passing threat in 2016?

45% pass plays

60% completion %

Thats 27%, but I think anything >25% % of plays with completed pass would make most happy.

I'll also say though, I don't care if we run the ball 75% of the time, cause it will probably work just as long as its not the same plays out of the same formations. Give me some power runs, some off tackle, some jet sweeps, some read options, some speed options. Do it out of I formation, single back, 2 TE sets, 4 WR sets, I don't care. Just mix it up a ton.

While I do believe the passing game needs to improve if Fournette and Guice don't combine to touch the ball in anyway possible 30-40 times a game the coaches fail. Those are probably your two best playmakers on the field.

Are you counting passed caught by the other team? How about passes thrown at scrimmages and practices? Do passes thrown at walk-thru's on Friday night count? How about passes at tailgates or in the student section? Are running back passes counted? What about screen passes behind the line of scrimmage? How about shovel passes?

If not, I would say 29.736825746%, rounded to 30%. That would give me "proof of life," but it could be debated based upon Darwin's Theory of Evolution [of the pass].

Such a tough question on a Monday. Let me ponder on it some more and get back with you.

I'm good with throwing it ~35-40% of the time, maybe a bit more.

If we complete >60% of those, our offense will be dynamic. I really just want more high percentage throws, i.e. 10-15 yard routes. Seems like it's all or nothing with the passing game. But that's what Cam's offense is built around. Sooo that kinda sucks.

A better functioning offense should yield more plays in general.

I'll take 45% pass plays with 60% complete. LSU is a run first offense. I can't think of a pass happy offense that has won anything in the last 10 years.

I counted passes completed to the other team only when they had similar uniforms or the same mascot. Passes thrown at scrimmages were left out since Les won't give accurate stats on those. Passes at tailgates were counted if they were within three hours of game time, but not in cases where we were in a rain delay. Screen passes were counted, but not if the receiver went beyond the line of scrimage and then returned to the backfield. Passes in the student section were only counted if the QB was sober. Running back passes were counted as long as they were in the secret playbook. SHOVEL passes were buried.

Texas Tech territory- 62/62. The most successful teams are between 40-50% pass/run with +60% complete.
