Prepare yourself for Jet Sweeps

I watched about three of Pitt's games this year and Canada LOVES him some jet sweep.
This will be the new toss dive/short side option of the rant. Prepare your bodies.
ETA: For everyone getting bent out of shape over this, I don't have anything against the jet sweep and realize it can be a part of an effective gameplan. It just appears to be Canada's favorite play call and once we get stopped on a critical third down trying to use a jet sweep, watch this board meltdown.

Chark running the jet sweep

Meh, he knows that stretching the field tires a defense out. It's really not that much different than what Tom Herman ran at Ohio State and Houston. A lot of runs and passes horizontally to tire out the defense and keep them guessing.

Little Fournette will be the master of the jet sweep

well a jet sweep is alot more effective than a short side option or toss dive.
The reason being is it one forces the defense to show what it is doing, two it tires the defense out, three it allows for playaction and misdirection off of it. So I would much rather a jet sweep than the other options.

Pitt WR Quadree Henderson: 54 carries, 555 yards (10.3 per carry/sweep), 5 TDs.
If LSU averaged 10 yards per toss dive, no one would have complained.

When Bret Bielema finally allowed Matt Canada to "unshackle" the offense in the 2012 B1G Championship Game, Melvin Gordon ran jet sweeps around Nebraska all night and finished with 216 yards on nine carries.
The Jet Sweep has been a staple for the Wisconsin offense since, and Canada is to thank.

yep. it is called USING THE WHOLE FIELD. stretch them horizontally with jet sweeps, toss sweeps, bubble screens, etc, then gouge them vertically with runs and passes up/down the middle.

Until we don't convert a third down using this play

I understand the point of it. It's usually a nice wrinkle play, and LSU has used it effectively before with Chark and Dural. I've just never seen a coordinator who calls as many jet sweeps as Canada does.

I remember Gordon and crew running a ton of these against us when we played in Houston a few years back. I wasn't sure if this started with Canada or coach Anderson.

a toss dive is a vertical play between the tackles usually for the A gaps, maybe B gaps. A jet sweep is a horizontal stretch play. Now the speed option is ok the problem is we mainly ran it to the short side and not far side with more room. It is still a horizontal strectch play also.

Care to explain yourself or are you just here to offer nothing?

I love how you all are so sensitive, y'all see every post that isn't a circle jerk, as some huge negative post

If integrated with other plays, where the jet sweep (or showing it) is part of a setup, then no problemo.
I refer to the Christian Kirk pass TD in our game this year. Lined up inside, motion across the formation. DB had to be aware it might be jet sweep (Donte Jackson) and was put at disadvantage. Kirk continued outside the numbers laterally and turned up on sideline for TD and had free release off LoS.
Run same play, TE or H back releases behind him for short pass after jet sweep motion clears space.
There's a balance. But if you run it enough instead as a 1-time a game 'hoping to break one' it serves a purpose for things other than running a jet sweep.
I love jet sweeps and jet sweep motions out of the pistol, it's a modern day triple-option with emphasis on passing.

I'm all for it, and also get ready for a lot of pre-snap motion and multiple formations to keep the defense guessing. At least our offense won't be the easiest one in the SEC to game-plan for anymore.
