He's a playmaker plain and simple

Listen, I love Jalen Mills...but Rickey is a hell of a playmaker. He sees limited action but yet always makes a play or is around the ball. He has the 'IT' factor. Mills getting hurt isn't ever a good thing, but Jefferswag will have people forgetting about Mills quickly.

he definitely will

but that isn't a knock on him.

Jalen Mills is just better and the coaches don't frick players who come back for a 4th year like that.

He's a freaking DB. Who knows what his numbers will be? How many times does Gamble kick off? How often will Jackson return kicks? How often does Ed Paris make a stop on third down? This is just silly stuff.

I didn't ask for numbers Boss. Considering he hasn't played a ton, I think it's relevant for those who are trying to get a beat on the defense.

I think he'll be good. Very good. But not as good as Mills. Not yet.

He's gonna run out on that field each and every game and he's gonna give a 110% effort. He's gonna play hard and fight like hell till the bitter end. He will work hard in the weight room, study film like a warrior, and bleed purple and gold like a son of a bitch.

I agree about the 4th year thing, but not that Jalen is necessarily better. Rickey played literally maybe half as many plays as Jalen, probably less than that, but still had more ints. I personally think as a pure playmaker he has more ability

so did ronald martin, but no one is going to say Ronald Martin is a better safety

Ints are not the do all end all of DBs

If he falters this year, it will solely be an indictment of Raymond's coaching

Uhh what?

Corey Raymond has proven that he's 1 of the top DB coaches in the nation. He's a great coach.

And I'm all for playing guys to the best of their potential and ability. But things happen in games that you can't control and sometimes you have to step up and do something that isn't you're strength. Especially on defense. You can only protect / hide a players weakness so much. Yea, we will be able to cater to our players strengths most of the time. But sometimes things happen out there.

Sooner or later, Jefferson is going to be forced to man up against a good WR out there. We could be blitzing and he has to cover for the blitzed, opponent could be in a spread formation and he has to bump down and guard a slot, and we could be caught in the wrong scheme / personnel and he has to guard a WR. If he falters because of this, then it's on him. You can't protect / hide a players weakness forever.

That said, Jefferson should be a menace out there and have a huge year for us.

Why don't we predict how many ridiculous predictions we have had to sit through. Start the season already

He's a baller. He's very athletic and physical. He has good ball skills, but I think his biggest impact will probably come in run support.
