Why is no one talking about this? This is the third game in a row that PM has run us out of innings. It didn't hurt him in the past two, but today we lost, and while it certainly wasn't because of his decisions, the Snickeris hit and run call played a major roll in killing any momentum we had.

First, last weekend in the 8th against Oregon State, the PM called and insane hit and run/double steal with runners on 1st and second, one out, and 1 strike. Runner was thrown out, Hanover K'd on the next pitch, and any rally was squashed.

Yesterday again he called for a double steal on a 3-2 count to Moore down 1, in what turned into a strike-em out, throw-em out double play. Then today, Snickeris runs on a 3-2 count and is thrown out killing a major opportunity. This is getting out of hand. Outs are valuable, and continuing to give them away is killing us considering we don't get that many base runners to begin with. Hitting and running takes the bat out of the hitters hands, and when we do it with a base runner who isn't a base stealer, like Katz early, or Snickeris late, it kills us. The staying out of the double play argument make no sense, running just to prevent a dp is hindering the hitters ability to focus on hitting. If this philosophy worked, every team would run to stay out of a dp every time they get runners on base. Watch any other baseball game anywhere, they don't.

This post was long, but I needed to vent. Any one else have thoughts?

The base running is atrocious. Same thing all season long.

Aggressive calls from the bench have certainly hurt more than they have helped this year.

WE HIT INTO TOO MANY DOUBLE PLAYS WHAT IS SO TOUGH TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THIS.

I don't know where you're reading, but to say this isn't being talked about is silly. It's ridiculous that way this team shoots itself in the foot over and over. Usually they figure a way out of it, but not today.

I didn't really have a problem with Snickeris being sent today. Now sending the runners with 2 strikes on Moore yesterday is a different story.

Yes agreed Not a PM fan and all his BS throwing kids under the bus in the paper. Yesterday double steel in the 8th inning and the result was a strike em out throw em out. NO OUTS IN THE 8th and the kids cannot lay down a bunt. FUNDAMENTALS KILL US THIS TIME OF YEAR ALL THE TIME. Fundamentally we are average. How do you only get one run! Really.

Especially since he beat the throw and just overslid the bag.

I am not so much being critical about the base running as I am about the aggressive play calling from the bench. It seems to be killing us. And to clarify, what I was really asking was how come PM never seems to be questioned by reporters about his over aggressive style that is producing tons of outs. I didn't really mean why is no one talking about it on here.

Well I dunno. I guarantee if I was a reporter I'd be asking him, because I've been screaming at him thru my TV all season.

Like the poster said earlier, we hit into too many DPs. Pretty sure we're over 60! That being the case what would you do? The trouble is when he moves 'em we run ourselves out of innings, and when we don't we hit the DP ball. CPM is doing the best with what he has. Besides pitching, he doesn't have much.
