Please let Fournette just play rb

I'd like to see him carry the ball more than 11 times in a game and not have to worry about him being gassed or taking full speed shots from guys on kickoff coverage. Obviously, he's talented enough to do so, but Guice and Jackson are plenty capable and neither is our feature rb.

Apparently it was a part of the recruiting pitch, and he loves doing it.
What % of kickoffs are returnable anymore?

I'm all for this. I know he can do a great job at returns, but you don't get a talent like that at RB a lot. Let's not lose him to that violent beast that is a kickoff and let him mow down everyone's front 7.

i'm good with letting him get a chance in a big SEC game but would like to see guice and jackson back there for the most part

He's actually been working as kick returner, shield blocker on punts and Will linebacker. He's close to beating out Domangue as the kicker as well. He'll play every play this year!!!

Well, OK, since you asked nicely.

LF doesn't get gassed. He just warms up more. He doesn't take full speed shots. He only gives them since the law of momentum is always in his favor.
He also doesn't do push ups. He pushes the earth down.
Had to make sure you got the sarcasm.

LF had 24 returns in 13 games last year... I'm sure those 1.8 extra touches per game are really gassing him and affecting his play at RB...
And yes I get the "injury risk" and all that... But it's an extremely small risk. And it's football, injuries happen on any play. Plus, if we were that worried about LF getting hurt, we would be limiting his touches anyways.
And how many carries do you think LF is gonna get? I'll be shocked if it's over 20 a game. Les doesn't like to wear down a RB with 25+ carries a game. Why? Because that's when a players wears down, risks a hammy injury, etc. and we typically have a deep backfield with guys that can play and deserve to get some work. . If we had Mark Richt as our head coach, then yeah I would be worried about LF returning kicks on top of getting 25+ carries a game. Thankfully he's not.
And I get that we have guys that are more than capable of returning kicks. But if LF is the best at it, wouldn't you want him back there? I mean you typically want your best players out there, right?
I've been back and forth on this... If LF is the best on the team at returning kicks and he wants to do it and can handle those 2 extra touches per game, let him do it. And if there's a game where he gets a lot of carries and seems to be gassed and breathing hard, I'm sure 1 of our many coaches would notice and get him off of return duties so he can catch a break.

ball carriers don't get hurt on KOs

It's rare that returners get hurt, especially on kickoffs. I don't see why so many people are afraid of that. I honestly don't think he'll get even 20 carries a game. More like 18.
18 carries
2 receptions
2 KR
22 touches per game isn't going to kill him.

All valid points. I do think he gets 20 carries a game in SEC play and the only guy that I think cuts into that a great deal is Guice. Les and company do a good job of keeping a guy fresh and the 20 carries is an SEC type average. I believe in all of the guys we have, but Fournette is the only guy that was in real tough situations last year. Williams had a few snaps near the end of Bama though. I just believe Fournette not having to be on kickoff return every time benefits us. I agree with another poster that suggested we use him periodically when we feel we need a big play.

He's getting to good not too. Field position key. Les isn't gonna wear his backs out. He will give LF what he can handle easily

And he has a scoring shot every time he runs it back. With last year's QB and offense situation, we had no choice. We HAD to score anyway we could.
This year, it won't be as critical, hopefully as I believe we will have a balanced offense.
I think the Tigers are gonna shock some folks....

Typical dumb fan point of view. Kick returns are important. Kick returners rarely get hurt. You want your best guy in that spot, and that's Fournette. Why not take the other point of view? I don't want him playing running back because we could lose our kick returner to injury. Just as silly.

Kick returns had more injuries than any other play which is why the NFL and NCAA moved the ball up and considered getting rid of it
I'm okay with the risk since there aren't that many returnable kicks anymore

no, it isn't just as silly
