This is not a bashing thread. Can a player be considered 1st round material if they record zero stats in a game? Shouldn't a player be dominant at his position? LSU has a stable of running backs that in time could go high in the draft. We have a shutdown corner again, who will go high. Mingo is very visible on defense. Sonic Sam should step up his game.

he was dominant against Washington. Bull rush was amazing, looked like a mini Reggie White. Forced Price out of pocket at least four times. What the hell.

No one has ever been drafted in the 1st round that played in a game but didnt record any stats. That's the first thing scouts look for. Statless games kill draft stock.

Wtf? lol

Sonic Sam was all up in Price's grill the other night. He recorded a sack and at least 5 QB hurries. He won SEC awards this week. What the frick are you smoking?

Tyson Jackson is definitely the biggest enigma I've ever seen here. He was a mediocre DE and was a workout warrior in NFL combine. He somehow magically ended up as a top 5 pick in the draft...

Going to guess Sam ended up screwing his sister, wife, or GF. Maybe a combination of those three.

Not in such a neglected horrible league as the SEC. Not many quality players to beat out, to be fair.

We definitely saw a different Sam this Saturday. Was pleased.

I don't think some people understand his position very well. He is not a lber like Jarvis jones or a speed rusher like keke. He contains the strong side and pushes everything to the middle. He collapsed the pocket several times.

Mario Williams had games where his stats didn't indicate greatness.

He went #1 overall.

You don't needs stats to impact plays as a dlineman. Something people definitely fail to realize. If you make the QB feel uncomfortable and throw bad passes, you're doing your job. If you crush two blockers and free your LBs up, stats won't really show things like that...

I've noticed Sam does look a step slower this year but he looks much stronger. It seems like he regularly pushes lineman back into the QB.
