He's always been #2 as a special teams coach

How do they do the rankings for this?

Ed O has 8 commits with a 93.84 average. Peveto has 6 commits with a 92.63 average. Yet Peveto has 78.70points, 2nd in the nation, and Ed O has 57.47points, 33rd in the nation.

Don't get it. Not bitching either. Peveto is a hell of a recruiter. Just confused at how they come up with the total points and what not.

Those recruiter rankings are often deceiving.

Do you mean to tell me that Peveto played a bigger role in landing the #1 DT in the state, and arguably the country, than Ed Orgeron who has put countless defensive linemen in the NFL at every stop in his career?

Is it possible that we must admit ol' Les knows what he's doing?

If so, what is that point?

I know Rashard's parents. Peveto is a good recruiter, but Ed O was the reason Lawrence is going to BR.

Let's hope Les knows what he's doing with the special teams. If special teams are similar to last year you can forget about winning the SEC west.

I dont know for a fact but it probably has to do with being the "primary" or the "secondary" recruiter

LSU with 5 of the top 65 recruiters in the country is pretty damn impressive. Need a heavy hitter to replace Coach Wilson, though.

I don't think they give you credit if you are a secondary recruiter. Only primary. Becasue I'm pretty sure Rashard Lawrence was listed under Peveto and not Ed O.

And so the legend grows...
In direct proportion to the heat over his ST coaching malpractice.
Nick and Urban will shudder over the prospect of going head to head with PEVETO.

Here's the explanation:

quote:

The Formula
Team Ranking Explanation
where c is a specific team's total number of commits and Rn is the 247Sports Composite Rating of the nth-best commit times 100.
Explanation
In order to create the most comprehensive Coach Recruiting Ranking without any notion of bias, 247Sports Coach Recruiting Ranking is solely based on the 247Sports Composite Rating.
Each recruit is weighted in the rankings according to a Gaussian distribution formula (a bell curve), where a team's best recruit is worth the most points. You can think of a team's point score as being the sum of ratings of all the team's commits where the best recruit is worth 100% of his rating value, the second best recruit is worth nearly 100% of his rating value, down to the last recruit who is worth a small fraction of his rating value. This formula ensures that all commits contribute at least some value to the team's score without heavily rewarding teams that have several more commitments than others.
Readers familiar with the Gaussian distribution formula will note that we use a varying value for s based on the standard deviation for the total number of commits between schools for the given sport. This standard deviation creates a bell curve with an inflection point near the average number of players recruited per team.
Below is a graphical representation of how our formula works. You can see that the area under the curve gets smaller both as the rating for a commit decreases and as the number of total commits for a school increases. The y-axis in this graph represents the percentage weight of the score that gets applied to an overall team ranking.
