Enough with all the bitching about bug eyes, it looks like he has serious bias against us and we obviously hate his guts and he would likely be "accidentally" shot if ever in the woods during deer season. ( I am in way advocating this, just saying ) since no one can seem to get me a lock of hair, a piece of his clothes and a personal item for a voodoo curse we need to put up or shut up.

We need a football geek to run an analysis last 5 years on games with Ritter versus sec officiating without etc. If this is done correctly and shows actual statistic bias one of sports programs would pick it up and maybe we could get some traction on this

OK. So what YOU are saying is that for EVERY LSU game that Ritter and his crew calls, Ritter gets his crew together before the game and tells them to call as many flags on LSU as they can and look the other way if there needs to be a flag on the other team... It sure looks that way.....

I would say we tend not get the benefit of the doubt on questionable/judgment calls with Ritter and crew...Of late I find myself cringing every time he and his crew are calling our games

I'm very happy for you if you've lived a life in which you've expressed zero bias against someone or have had zero bias expressed against you. But in the real world, people have biases and sometimes they act on them.

That's not a conspiracy theory, it's just life.

Didn't Ritter officiate the 9-6 game and the 2010 game in TS?

One might actually hope all ref crews are analyzed for any trends or patterns in what they do or don't call that deviates from averages. This happens in many professions where objective data exists.

Bias in officiating requires motive, and I don't think allegiance to a team (being a fan) is motive enough for not only one man but also some or all of his crew to essentially cheat. There'd need to be money involved, and the money would most likely be tied to betting lines.

If analysis shows a trend in the officiating of a specific crew that changes the ATS outcome of games, you'll have an argument.

I actually think this would be an interesting view. Post bookmarked for later.

Under Miles, LSU has been one of the most penalized teams in both the SEC and all of college football (on avg. 86th in fewest penalties per game). This is a trend that spans over 10 years. Ritter has not been the only referee officiating LSU games during that time. Yet year after year, different crew after different crew, LSU commits more penalties per game than than most teams. The only logical conclusion is that limiting penalties is not a major point of emphasis under Miles.

No, it doesn't require motive. What you are thinking of is called "cheating". Most bias is done unconsciously without being aware of it. For example, if Ritter and his crew happen live in an area where the people don't like LSU and often accuse them of cheating, then subconsciously they could expect LSU to break more rules and be looking more closely at LSU (resulting in more calls against us).

I don't know if there is a bias or not. It seems that way with Ritter, but I'd like to see the numbers.

Things that will never cease on the rant:

1. Bitching about La. Prospects going to bama.
2. Bringing back neck so we can chant the dumbest chant of all time.
3. Bitching about playing Florida every year.
4. ........bitching about refs and putting the sec phone and email on tdings. "Let's melt the sec phone lines".

Notice how the word "bitching" is used a lot? Because you all sound like one.

There are just somethings that are "understood" but left unsaid. Like running across a pitcher's mound in baseball. It becomes part of the culture of that particular organization. I have no trouble believing that a certain subtle and unspoken bias exists in the SEC office toward teams from Alabama. Some crews exhibit this more than others, but there is an understanding about what is "done" and what is "not done".

There is such a thing as being the beneficiary of questionable calls...when teams and individual players establish reputations(good or bad) officiating tendencies seem to follow...look no further than the NBA...reputable teams like Bama would fall into the same category; particularly if you have an affinity for the team

There is way too much Bama in the SEC office and in the officiating. Warner did a good article on it once. It's not a figment of people's imagination.

sabans LSU teams were the most penalized team as well. Bama teams not, so actually it seems it is LSU, not miles. I'd be interested in seeing penalties called while he was at Oklahoma state. I'd be willing to bet its not as bad as his time at LSU.
