LSU should show they ain't messing around and take bamas DC and make him the highest paid. Imagine the recruits we would get. And better bowl games. More money. And it's not like lsu doesn't have the money to pay a DC 2 million or close to it

It would have to be a significant increase to get him to leave but I don't think it'll take 2m.

1.75 would probably do it.

If it's gonna win us the bama game next year, I'd be fine with it.

He's a great DC. He has had immense success at Alabama. Even had great success at LSU when he coached the DBs back in '03.

Everyone called me foolish two weeks ago when I put his name in the hat. LSU would make a strong statement throwing him 1.75M and stealing him from our rivals.

I wouldn't even be opposed to him requesting a HCIW clause even without prior HC experience. At 39, he's succeeded where many have not in a lot longer time

I agree.

Additionally, he's one of the best recruiters in the country.

I'd rather see how he does when he's not under the wing of Saban.

If you go to coaching board there's a thread saying this is already a done deal. Good morning.

I am concerned about a Kirby Smart hire.

We don't know if he is any good, because Saban is the DC of Bama. Saban sets the plan, Saban establishes the scheme, Saban calls the plays.

Maybe he has learned enough from Nick to be an effective DC? Maybe. . .but it's still concerning.

Well I am sure Saban taught him well....

I would take him in a heartbeat...Its better than what we have right now...... Miles is really screwing this up.....

It's way way way way way way way better hiring a disciple of Saban who has been the DC for a number of years winning championships than hiring Brick Haley

Do you agree?

I've read a lot of things on this board in the last couple of weeks, but I haven't seen one single poster say that Kirby Smart to LSU is a done deal.

I have a feeling that hiring Kirby Smart to be Defensive Coordinator would be like hiring Steadman Graham to teach you how to be "successful in life".
